The pride and joy of the entire family! Scarlett Paige O'Connor was a bright light brought into the family and "Poppop" got a kick out of watching his spirited grandchild blossom over her first 2.5 years.

After 38 years, Chuck retired from a fulfilling career with Carefirst, Blue Cross Blue Shield. There were countless wonderful people that crossed his path during his time there and he looked back fondly on his tenure with the company.

Chuck and his family moved to Columbia, MD in 1997 where he lived until 2016

Chuck's first niece, Ashley Gardner, came into the world in February of 1985, which began the long legacy of everyone's favorite fun Uncle Chucky/Chuckles/Chuckster. The crew expanded over the years with additional nieces and nephews who deeply treasured Uncle Chuck's company at the kids' table: Ryan, Jessica, James, Andrew, Carolyn, Lauren, Matt, Marc, Geoff, & Leanne

Purchased second home in Crofton, MD in 1984 with his wife and two kids, where he would later complete his family with the addition of third child.

Chuck married Joni Berman after college. They were married for 25 years and had 3 children together.

After college, Chuck began his nearly 40 year career at Blue Cross Blue Shield in 1977

Graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from University of Maryland College Park in 1976. This was the place where he met his former wife, Joni Berman, along with life long friend Paul Evans. Chuck began his career path into the world of sports during college as a member of the grounds crew for the Baltimore Orioles.

Chuck's true passion in life was sports. He eased his way into a career of stats and sports broadcasting during college with an early gig as a grounds keeper for the Baltimore Orioles. This opportunity led to another and another until he was sitting alongside some of the greats like Verne Lundquist, Bill Raftery, Johnny Holiday, Charles Barkley, and more as a premier Statistician.

Graduated from Triton Regional High School in Runnemede, NJ

First born son to loving parents, Charles "Charlie" Gardner II and Bertha "Bertie" Gardner aka Bert and Chal. Chuck was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Bellmawr, NJ, later joined with younger brothers, David and Mark.
