A Tribute to our dear kind Uncle, Baba Ola.
Dear Sir
We thank God and indeed our Lord Jesus Christ, for your life. It was a life of peace, Joy, Faith and total dedication to family and country.
From as long as I can remember, during significant occasions in our lives, you were there to support and celebrate life with us. From Christmas, to New year’s, Birthdays, Anniversaries, and weddings, you were there and were counted upon to take your leadership place in the family and you always answered the call.
You were always a steady and calming presence in the Marinho household at Inabere street, at Isale Eko, Ikoyi, Victoria Island and eventually at Ogba. To my recollection when there was conflict, you were there, to steady the boat. Thankyou Sir and may God bless you, and grant you your just reward and eternal rest in the presence of God Almighty forever, in Jesus precious name Amen.
May our Lord comfort our Mother, Mama Ola and all the members of the family and keep us all in good health, with a long life and continued prosperity, Amen

Sir, Rest in Perfect Peace.

OUR DEAREST GRANDDAD.

Grandad, you hold a honored place in our hearts and like all family losses, it is difficult to find the right words to say about you.

Our Grandad was a wonderful man. His laugh could always fill up a room.
So jovial with a resounding boom. When granddad came to visit us in England,
we relished every single minute. He told us stories from when he was young and during his Police time. We could always ask granddad when we needed advice and he never had to tell us anything twice.

Granddad was a man you could always take at his words and you could hear his voice from a mile away just like our mums.

Now the room will no longer echo with your voice, since you moved on into the mists of ever after, but to those who knew and love you like we still do, your memories will warm our hearts ’til we see him again.

You were our only granddad,
but you were all we ever needed. You would make everyone laugh and smile and chuckle with your character; you always shone and you took the lead.

Tears streamed down our faces when we heard you had gone.

Granddad you were our role model  that anybody would want in their life. You were kind, dependable and the most caring person we ever knew.

We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better example. You were there in every way. You cared for your wife (Grandmum), your Children, Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, Nephews. Nieces, Cousins and other families and friends around him.

We wish that we could just sit with you one more time,
feel the way you would hold us so tight and secure, but now without you around, we do not feel very safe. It’s like you left and we fell and crash landed on the bottom floor.

Granddad we will surely miss you but we know you are joking in heaven and with God now.

Granddad we love and will miss you dearly. Now it’s time to say goodbye, until we see you again someday.

TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED SENIOR BROTHER

My senior Brother, Papa Ola was more than a brother but like a father to me, I Joseph Debo Marinho, being the last born of the family of Macullino Marinho clan and the only surviving child.

When my brother, baba Ola, was posted to Abakaliki, on official assignment, our Father, PA Macu, not too comfortable with the transfer of his son to Abakaliki in Ebonyi State, in the early 1950s, deemed it necessary to send someone to live with him, and I being the youngest in the family, was readily available and therefore, sent to live with my brother in Abakaliki. My responsibility was to assist in household chores and other stuff.

While in Abakaliki My brother worked with One Mr Agbabiaka, the most Senior Police Officer at the time. Both of them were able to unravel a very difficult murder case involving one Chief Winboko who was apprehended and arrested and this earned my brother a Special Commendation from the Commissoner of Police and this led to my brother been selected to join the Special Branch of the Nigeria Police which later metamorphosed to the “E Branch”and later Nigeria Security Organization (NSO). Through hard work and dedication to duties, my brother Chief Julius Adeniyi Marinho earned himself a Blue Print in the Security and Intelligence Community of our Great country, Nigeria.

Also from Abakaliki, my senior brother came to Lagos to marry his wife and they all returned with my senior sister, Late Mrs Modupe Soares. Many good things happened to our family in Abakaliki, My brother had his first born, Anthony Olayemi before he was posted back to Lagos after he completed his assignment there.

Papa Ola was a caring big brother, ready to render assistance whenever the opportunity arises. He took care of me while I also attended school in Abakaliki. He had been a loving, accommodating and devoted father to his children and other relatives..His role model and bridge building qualities have helped to unite and bring us together as a one big family.

The Holy Spirit, the Great Comforter will continue to comfort the entire family.

You shall be greatly missed brother, but our consolation is in the fact that you are with the Angels.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mama Ola, Ola, Laide, Ronke, Shade, Jide, Gboyega and Shola and the entire family.

To be like you is something I aspire to be, loving, caring, kind, friendly, funny and God-fearing.

I remember spending my Christmas holiday with you in ogba and having a great time together with you and my Siblings. You a God fearing man, when I spent my time in ogba I can remember you going outside by 5 in the Evening everyday to pray the rosary, I will miss not seeing you around but the time I had with you will forever be in my heart.

TRIBUTE TO MY DARLING HUSBAND AND SOUL MATE

Baba Ola, ololufemi, olowo orimi, my husband, lover, friend, brother and father. You were all to me. I don’t have any brother and my parents died when I was a young girl, that’s why I called you my father and brother, and you played all the roles diligently.

Thank you for being everything to me, you took me as I am and we lived for 64 years together, yes there were ups and downs but we both weathered it together.

Of course I know death is inevitable, but I was hopeful that God Almighty would still grant us more years together.
For our 64 years together I can only recall your being hospitalized twice, first was six months before your 90th birthday and the second was on Friday 25th June, 2021, which resulted in your demise, and since then, it’s been very difficult for me to accept that you’re gone. Your passing onto glory has created a vacuum in my life that only the Lord Jesus Christ can fill. I miss you my love.

Reminiscing on our companionship, I thank my God that it was a memorable one, full of the faithfulness and blessings of God. Baba Ola, I thank God that He alone ordained our relationship and marriage in 1957 and blessed us with wonderful and loving Children, Grandchildren, G-Grandchildren and relatives.

You cared for all and never discriminated. All were welcomed into our home, including the children of my siblings who all called you “Baba mi”. Your gentle soul cared for all and sundry. Thank you so much for accepting all of us.

You were very present and involved in the endeavors of your children and their children. You were a loving, caring and hard working husband, Father, Grandpa, G-Grandpa, uncle, Cousin and friend.

Your patriotism to Nigeria, as a Police Officer and Security and Intelligence Officer is unparalleled. Serving in Abakaliki, Idiroko, Ebonyi, Enugu, Kwara, Ogun States, Obalende, Ikoyi, Victoria Island and retired to Ogba. You performed your duties diligently without any blemish which earned you commendations from your bosses in the Special Branch (E Department) Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and Nigeria Security Organization (NSO).

I give God Almighty all the glory for a beautiful life you spent with me and the Children. Your memories will forever be cherished by all those that knew you. We all miss you but I take solace in the fact that you have gone to be with the Lord.

My husband was a man of great faith, who believed that God can do everything (Kosi ohun ti Olorun kole se). Always giving thanks to Baba loke. Baba Ola was very friendly and content, he was a free minded man and that helped our relationship a lot.

Baba Ola, you came, saw and conquered, and of course, fought gallantly the good fight of Faith and finished your course and there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give you at that day: and not to you only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”. (2Timothy 4:7-8).

Grandpa Ogba as we'd usually call you at home, it's hard to take your passing but my heart feels lighter when I remember the good times we had. Although I wish I was born earlier so I could have more time with you, I have more than enough memories, like the times during Christmas we'd come over and draw Christmas trees in the sand and you'd judge them to see whose was the best. Coming back to Ogba and seeing your chair empty is sad, the chair where you'd eat, where you'd rest, tell the kids playing in the living to keep quiet and watch your Yourba Africa-magic films. I guess everytime I go back there and see your chair I'll always remember my grandpa was a kind ,gentle, loving, sweet man who I'm lucky to call family.
Love you grandpa
I'll see you again some day.

A TRIBUTE TO MY DADDY

Finally, I am saying the hardest goodbye which I have been avoiding but this has to be done so you can rest in the bosom of your Lord and for me to share my good memories of you.

My Daddy, everyone has a special memory of My Larger than life, Incomparable, Friendly and Priceless Dad, as either a Paramount father, Husband, Police officer, grandfather, uncle or friend but for me you were “MY DADDy”.

I remember my days growing up as a little girl thinking I was an only girl of the family with only two brothers, not realising I have other siblings. I lacked nothing and I could get away with even murder because all I had to do was cry and my dad would come out shouting, ready to pounce on the person even my mum couldn’t discipline me as my dad wouldn’t allow it. I did no wrong with him and I would always cling to him like a mouse hence the term, ‘Iyawo Baba ee' came from that.

During my secondary school days at Holy Child College Lagos, my dad organised the security for our sports ceremony, which started during my older sisters time in the same school and continued til I left.

My dad always come to my rescue as a Tom girl. I remember being arrested for cursing a Yellow Fever on the street of Awolowo Road in Ikoyi and I was arrested and taken to Police Station on the same street, which was a stone throw from my dad's work place. Knowing what would happen when my dad got to the station I stated crying like there was no tomorrow and of course when my Hero got there the Yellow Fever smelt fire and regretted ever coming near me. That was my dad to my rescue and many more incidences that I cherish when I look back and smile.

My Daddy enjoyed life to the fullest. He would invite both young and old friends alike to sit and merry with him not caring what creed, religion or gender they were. My first drink with him was Gulder Beer back in the days and no matter who came to his home he would always offer them food saying (Iya Ola, shey won o ni jeun ni)? Meaning Olas Mum wont they eat? Even if it was the last meal in the house. That was my dad for you.

My dad was an emotional being. I remember having family pets, cats, chickens and especially dogs. He loved them and we had so many but losing them was the problem. The first dog we lost to a hit a run driver on Muliner Rd Ikoyi brought tears into the eyes of everybody including my dad. He saw no difference between animals and human as they were treated with compassion.

My dad was a man with a heart of Gold, extremely caring to a fault. He saw all children as his biological kids and cared for them all equally. He supported and cared for so many children, grand children, great children, and even children that he never knew their families. He would support financially, emotionally without blinking and thank you Daddy this is one of the traits I have inherited from you. Your home was and is still always open to everybody. You would feed, cloth and give shelter to strangers you came across. You never turned people away when they needed help and that is why, you were the first to build a water tap in your house for public use to use in your area.

It’s going to be difficult going back to Ogba and finding your room it empty without you. I remember whenever I am leaving Lagos and coming back to London, I will always say, ‘Daddy I will see you when next I come with both of us crying and hugging each other and you replying ‘Lagbara Baba loke’.

My kids your grandchildren saw you as their Superstar with them speaking the little Yoruba with you and you making fun of them. They always ask you to come down but your reply was, 'I don't want to die in that your country'. Oh Simisola your Greatgrand daughter would have loved to know you more. Nevertheless we will share all the good memories of you with her.

Daddy no words can describe how I feel as your last daughter remembering your doctoring that was passed down to your kids. You cherished your Catholic life to the core as you never deviated from it. Even at your old age the Priest would come home to serve your communion.

My larger than life daddy,
you were everything a child would want in both a father and mother. You would wake up in the night, walk round the house to see if we were all right especially if one of your kids was ill. You had all the medications for malaria and other illnesses hence the funny name ‘Dr Marinho’. Your kids were your life and you did all you could as a father with no reservations.

Dad you dotted on your wife of 64 years and more. They both went absolutely everywhere together with the three last children tagging along when were young. You never went anywhere without Iya Ola. Family parties, Church and all, and she never left you for too long either, as you were an eye candy, Omo Eko to the core. You were together like a pea in a pod. Oh what an amazing marriage you had.

My Daddy: Omo Nikoyi, Omo Runna, Omo Iya Ala, Omo akobi kege, Omo Agba tin ya orun, when I heard you had passed peacefully in your sleep, the only tears I shed were tears of joy in celebration of a life well spent. Folashade your daughter is so grateful to God almighty that you tapped into the glorious riches of the mystery, which is Christ, in us, “The hope of glory” (Collossians 1:27) and that you are “saved by grace through faith in Christ” (Epeshians 2:8).

My Dad is now asleep in the Lord. You fought the good fight of faith, finished the race and kept the faith.

I will not grieve as a person without hope, so long as I believe that Christ died and rose again, “Even so through Christ, God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in him” (1Thessalonians 4:14). I bid you adieu, Daddy! Till we meet to part no more.

TRIBUTE TO MY FATHER CHIEF JULIUS ADENIYI MARINHO
Daddy, you had always been there for me from the day I was old enough to know you as my father. All those good memories of waiting up for you to come back from work with Suya. I appreciate you giving me my first car, I cherished this so much.
It gladdens my heart that I was in Lagos the week before you passed on and was there to take you to the hospital. We give glory to God that your last moment on earth was a peaceful one.
I am proud to be your son; I will surely miss our happy moments of drinking together when I come to see you in Ogba.

I was very stunned when I heard the demise of Chief Julius Adeniyi Marinho. I still can't believe he died so unexpectedly. However, as they say, the one who is adored the most by God, is the who achieves eternal life. We will cherish all the happy memories we had with him. Please, accept our sincere condolences. ADIEU DADDY l WILL FOREVER MISS YOU.

Daddy, it took everything in me to write this because each time I tried, I would burst into tears. It is hard to believe that you are gone but I am encouraged by the fact that you are in a better place right now.
I say thank you Daddy for the privilege of having you in my life as my Daddy and benefitting from your kindness, wisdom, compassion, unconditional love and forthrightness. Your energy was unmatched and your enthusiasm for life, jokes and laughter were infectious. I shall cherish your memory forever.
Am so lucky, privileged and blessed to be the baby of the house from transit village to 17A Awolowo Road ikoyi to Ogba.
During your time on earth, you impacted a lot of people’s lives, especially mine as you inspired me to follow in your footsteps in my chosen career. You always told me to make you proud and I still remember the reaction when I told you about my job. Daddy you were very happy, prayed for me and said that you were proud of me. That has been one of the happiest moments of my life.
Thank you Daddy for being my role model from whom I learned a lot. You taught me to always have faith in God regardless of the situation and to be helpful to others as much as possible. You emphasized on education and hard work. “Atele owo ko ki tonije”.Those were your words. You loved God and would call me and say: “ Busola,wa ko Orin funmi dor dor oooo dor dor ooooh hm wa ko”. Guess what, that is Trust and Obey.
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of his World
What a glory He sheds on our way
While we do His good will
He abides in with us still
And with those who will trust and obey…
Daddy mi, I remember you calling: “Busolaaa! Walora Gulder wafunmi”. That was your favorite then. Other times you say “wa ba mi yun eyin mi”. That was my duty every night before you would go to bed. For some reason, your car had a distinct sound and I could never miss it even from a mile away. You had a way of warming your car when you arrived home. The memories of the times we shared keep flooding in and they keep me in tears. I was planning on bringing my children home to see and spend time with you but God knows best. You lived life to the fullest and your good deeds speak volumes.
Daddy mii, Baba olopa, I love you. I know it is the will of God that you come home at this moment and I ask that you go on and rest peacefully, having run a wonderful life race and emerged victoriously. I am honored to call you my daddy and shall love you forever.

May I thank God for the opportunity of knowing Daddy and the numerous lives he positively touched including mine. Meeting him for the first time many years ago was a pleasant experience and it remains fresh in my mind. A refined gentleman, Daddy knew no prejudice or bias, no tribe or tongue but welcomed and treated everyone with warmth, love and compassion. Hence he was simply DADDY to all.
As a man of genuine integrity, wisdom and immense knowledge, Daddy made himself available to all individuals and at all times, and had a way of taking care of every situation no matter how dire it seemed. Daddy was approachable even though he was a firm disciplinarian. He was fair and just yet never compromised his values and standards.
He was charismatic and charming. With him there was never a dull moment. He had a presence that filled the arena and lifted the most depressed soul.
You shall be greatly missed Daddy.
Glory be to God for the life you lived and which we celebrate at this time.
Rest In Perfect Peace Daddy

TRIBUTE TO THE BEST DAD EVER

To God be the glory for a life well spent.
Death is a reality, but painful, even if you lived your life to the fullest.

You’re a father in a million, you were loving, caring, accommodating. I remember when we were young, you created time to bond with your children, when you came back from work at night and we were asleep, you would wake us up to eat Suya with you, sing, dance and share our personal problems with you. You showed what love meant, cordial relationship and closeness every father should have with his children.

My father, you birthed and fathered so many generations of goodness. In my father’s words‘ Mo ma sin yin de ibi ti eru o ti ni ba yin’, you did just that! You raised, guided, prayed and did everything you could as Christ strengthened you.

Dear Dad, What’s not to miss about you?, the evening checks before you go to bed, the ‘have you eaten’, your voice, the way you light up the room with your presence, the pat on the back when we greet you or the handshakes and of course, the endless prayers. Christmas party is never going to be the same without you; the good host.

I’m grateful and i appreciate all you did for me, the support during my trying times and the love you extended to my children, your grandchildren. I could come to you at any time and you had a solution to my problems, Eyin ni ejika mi ti o je ki aso o bo l'ara mi. You were a shoulder we could all lean on. You extended your arm of love and selflessness to everyone around you.

You taught us the way of the Lord, you acknowledged and honored Jesus, you lived an exemplary life, a lover of 'Joshua 1:8'. You were humble, generous, never holding grudges against anyone, quick to apologize when you were wrong, willing and always ready to learn, readily available to support and show love to everyone who has come in contact with you.

Life is different without you, but I am grateful I got to call you my dad. I take solace in the fact that you lived a righteous, fulfilled and beautiful life full of thanksgiving, Every moment of your life is like a book on a path towards heavenly bliss.

I believe you’re with your maker; Christ the king where we shall meet to part no more,
1 Corinthians 55-57 ‘O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ’.

TRIBUTE TO A GRANDPA AND MORE
Dear Grandpa,
It sure would be an understatement to say that you lived a fulfilled and exemplary life; an ardent Catholic christian, so humble yet so disciplined and selfless to a fault; a father and grandfather to many nations, family and community-wise, my very own Abraham.

You had smiles that could brighten anyone's day accompanied by warm and kind words of praise and assurance to make one feel good, who would ever forget your signature pat on the back though painful at times but heartwarming or the grip of your handshakes? A lifetime tinged with thanksgiving, joy, fun and laughter as I will always remember you for being lighthearted and how much you liked to enjoy yourself while carrying others along, there was never a dull moment with you.

Your love and care for family was second to none, a tradition inherited by your children and grandchildren; A philanthropist, always willing to help in whatever capacity and peacemaker extraordinaire, never a fan of bearing grudges and always ready to be the first to apologize regardless. Indeed you were a salt of the earth and light to our world in your own little way as you had this dynamic and gracious effect on all whom you came across.

I feel lucky and privileged to have had you as my Grandpa and above all blessed to be called your Grandson. I will miss you dearly "Jollyboy" especially our 10seconds fight, you calling me "Bobosco!" like you fondly did as you had a nickname for almost everyone and the fact that you never joked with your faith and love for God, but I will take consolation in the plethora of fun and loving memories growing with you as well as morals learned, always thinking of you with a huge smile.

So, this is me saying thank you for the special role you played in my life and that of my mom and siblings; thank you for being a guardian angel and a pillar of support;
"e ti sìn wá dé ibi tí èrù ò ti ní bàwá"
just as you promised to, thank you for being a Grandpa and more. Rest on Jollyboy, till we meet to part no more.

"Eternal rest grant unto Pa Julius Adeniyi Marinho, O Lord; and let your perpetual light shine upon his soul"

I am Lucky and blessed to be your granddaughter.

Thank you for taking up the fatherly role for My Siblings and I.

Thank you for been an inspiration and support system to me and everyone around you. You taught me to be steadfast in prayers, have faith in God and never give up.

The good memories remains with me forever, knowing the ability impacted by you into my life. You were vast in different fields, intelligent, selfless and jovial. You always stress the importance of education and hard work in life to become a great person.

Thank you for been part of my success journey to been a Medical Doctor.
I remember years back when I jokingly said I was tired of Nigeria and wanted to relocate , you said and I quote “Olufunke if you leave this country I know you won’t return and most importantly who will take care of me“ I said God will take care of you and I will come visiting. You frowned at it and persuaded me into practicing here as you were a Patriotic Nigerian.
I’m glad I am one of Gods instruments in that path.
Just as you served your country Nigeria with your kindness, humility and whole heart . you wished and loved everyone of us will follow that legacy. With God I promise to make you proud.

Thank you for all your advice, counseling and daily prayers over me, my husband, siblings and your great granddaughter. Thank you for extending your love and kindness towards Tosin and Tiaraoluwa.

A TRIBUTE TO MY SPECIAL LOVING FATHER
Daddy, What a privilege to have you as a father. I’m thankful to God for making you my father and custodian. You’re one in a million. You mean so much to me, my super star, JJ Baba, an illustrious Son of Lagos Island of the Brazilian stock. Lagos for show and in deed you enjoyed life to the fullest. There was never a dull moment with you.

You’re very present in every of my endeavors in life. I learnt that when I was born, I brought great Joy into your life, and since then, we had jelled very well. Recently, one of my class mates in Holy Child College, asked after you: “Francisca, how is your Dad, always arranging for security for our inter house-sports”. My colleagues in abuja always asked after your well being. Thanks for the role you played when I had issues in the office. Romania was home to you, colleagues in Malaysia and New York, had encounter with you either virtually or personally.

Daddy, It’s so painful that I wasn’t on ground when you passed on, but thank goodness we all had a video call with you on 28 June 2021 to thank and appreciated your fatherly care and love and also reassured you that all will be well with us. Then on Wednesday 30 June, 2021, I personally had a video call with you and we prayed together for over 40 minutes, you opened your eyes in acknowledgment of everything going on. I’m confidently assured that you’re with the saints triumphant at the bosom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, where we shall meet to part no more. One of my friends and prayer partners testified of your salvation.

You’re an encourager and a support to all that had contact with you. To Nigeria, you gave your best in the Security and Intelligence Community in different capacities and places, in a quiet but critical role in Nation Building and National Security. Thank you Dad, through you I served Nigeria in my chosen career.

You helped the less privileged, Your community will miss you. You were so accommodating and welcoming, you were a rallying point in the family.
We shall miss the Annual Christmas party which has become an annual ritual for over 50 years, from Obalende to Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and still continued in Ogba. So many good times down memory lane, in the 1960s, 70s, 80s, …when you took us to Bristol Hotel, Lagos, I can never forget that outing, Police Officers Mess, Awolowo Road, Lagos Island Club, when you would come back late from work and must have bought Suya or Fish and chips from Police officers mess..

Daddy, you’re a man of a very strong faith and trusted that God answers prayers, I will always key into your tenacity, always with a grateful heart, singing hallelujah songs, and would usually say, “Laide Pastor, pray for me”.

You were such a loving husband to your wife, Mojoyinola (Iya Ola, or M) and wonderful father to your biological and other children alike. You were firm but kind hearted, of great integrity and dutiful, Role model per excellence. I’m so humbled to be your daughter.

Daddy, you were full of life and we were all looking forward to celebrating your 94th birthday as we celebrated your 93rd birthday with Uncle, Chief FRA MARINHO, who transited this world unexpectedly on 18 January, 2021.

I have hope in Christ that you’re resting in the bosom of the Lord where we shall all meet to part no more, 1 Corinthians 15:19 “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”

Daddy, I’m thankful and privileged to have shared in your wealth of experiences. There are so many wonderful things I still wanted to share with you, well well…:

My family, friends and colleagues from around the world including Your children in: RCCG Restoration Chapel, Bucharest, Romania; RCCG Day Spring Parish, Ipaja, Lagos; RCCG Restoration Parish, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; RCCG Palace of Glory, Abuja; RCCG Holy Ghost Zone, New York; and RCCG Palace of Praise, New York bid You farewell and Adieu. REHOBOTH-FOAM Foundation honors you.

Unforgettable, That's who you really are !!!. I join all with tears in my eyes but utmost gratitude to God Almighty to say Adieu and Good night, Sweet sweet Papa mi. The Best Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, G-Great Grandpa anyone would ever have. Daddy I promise You, I shall never disappoint You and my God. Love You Dad ❤️❤️

TRIBUTE TO MY PRICELESS GIFT; MY GRANDPA

Granddaddy! Granddaddy!! Exactly how i hail you. I definitely miss your response.

I’m lucky my grandfather is among the great ones, it is fulfilling knowing i’m one of your seeds and it is a privilege to be associated with such greatness. I’m a proud grandpa’s girl, when people had their parents show up in school, i had my Old man turn up!. My greatest wish was to have you walk me down the aisle, but I will definitely hold you in my heart forever.

There are three things i would always remember you for and key to one living a fulfilled life:
Your acceptance of God’s supremacy over all: My Grandpa adores Jesus! Is there a time you won’t find my grandpa praising God, reporting to his master and testifying of his goodness?. His favorite words in his unique voice ‘ Praise God ;Alleluia’. How can i forget your white rosary saying your 1000 thank you Jesus daily! Your acceptance of God’s sovereignty is totally remarkable and worthy of emulation.

Generosity: Dear grandpa, if you could look back to see how hundreds of people have come to say you touched their lives. You were a free and true giver. You’re/were a blessing to mankind.

Humility: My Grandpa; Everyone’s go to person! The modest king, the listening ear. You took your time to appreciate every single thing done for you. One thing i have learnt is everyone is equal before God and to my Grandpa, everyone should be treated with respect, kindness, fairness and equity irrespective of class, age and status.

I’m super glad i shared the last moments with you and the opportunity to give you your last meal on earth before you slept on beautifully.

Thank you for being the best, thank you for fitting perfectly into the fatherly role; World’s best dad/grandpa hat fits you so well. Thank you for the love, accommodation, sacrifices, care, discipline, support, selflessness, words of encouragement and most especially the morning and evening prayers when i walk you in and out of your room.
Thank you for engaging us with intelligent conversations and your constant display of knowledge.

You’ve led us in the way of light and of the Lord, you’ve laid the foundation, i promise to carry on and continue where you stopped as you’ve gone to be with Christ.

You lived a life worthy of emulation and beautiful life full of thanksgiving. I’m certain you got a ticket to heaven.

In all things, we would give thanks to God, as you would have done, and of course with your favorite song;
Afope fun Jesu
Afope fun Jesu
Nitori oore nla re
Nitori oore nla re

Keep sleeping beautifully in Christ. I love and miss you endlessly. ❤️

Love: your favorite grandchild

I love you,Dad.
A tribute to my Father.

My Dad passed away recently. Even though I knew it was looming, I didn’t know it would come so soon. I was hoping I’d have more time to get acquainted with the idea of death and what it means for those of us left behind.

I know the pain of losing my Dad will perhaps never leave me, I imagine it will ease with time as I process and get through it.

My Dad Julius Adeniyi , will forever be in my heart until the day it stops beating. And I am grateful that I’m becoming a more fully realised human being, a more caring, compassionate and empathetic person because of my Dad

He was the most sincerely altruistic person I have ever known with no attachment to material things.

My Dad left an impact on every person he met, even strangers ( who didn’t stay strangers very long because he was just so damn friendly ) especially during and after few bottles of Guilder beer . His favourite alcohol.

The love my Dad spread on this Earth continues to grow and will live on through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and that’s the ultimate measure of any human being.

I love you Dad. Now and forevermore.

Your beer buddy Son.

My Dearest Uncle (Papa Olamide)
We little knew that morning
God was to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always at our side,
And your memory will always be blessed

Brother, very sad to write a tribute for you now.
The news of your departure from the surface of the earth got to me as a shock. I could not believe and still not believe that you are gone. You were a man of excellence and you encouraged people around you to follow the same path.
I give glory to God for your fulfilled life. Good night till we meet again to part no more on resurrection morning.

Grand Dad!

I know you are guided by the heavenly angels. You lived life so well, worthy of emulation and exemplary.
Grand dad as I fondly called you. Your love was an indication and part of my overall marital happiness. You were so fond of me and my family. Each time I come to visit, you will ask if I brought my car to pick your grand daughter (Olufunke)
I will miss the prayers, laughter and jokes we occasionally shared. I sorely wish we could share some as I pen this down.

Rest on Grandad ❤️

My Dearest Uncle (papa Ola as we fondly knew you), it is with mixed feelings of sadness and thanksgiving that I pen this tribute on the occasion of your passing. Sadness because I have lost a beloved uncle, our family has lost a great patriarch, and our nation has lost a proud and pioneering officer of the peace. On the other hand I feel thankful because you lived a full and fruitful life and have gone on to a well deserved rest. I still recall being impressed with your lively disposition and your sharp mind which you maintained well into your twilight years.

Dearest uncle, until we meet again, rest in peace in the company of your Lord and all of our loved ones that have gone before you.

ADIEU BABA, I WILL FOREVER MISS YOU

I met Baba for the first time on Christmas day of 2013. One of his sons, who happens to be my friend and brother (though from another mother) Gboyega had invited me to join his family for his annual ritual of going to greet his parents on Christmas day. When we got there, he introduced me first to Baba and Mama and then to the entire family, as Femi (one of his grandsons) lecturer at the University of Lagos. The reception was overwhelming. Within a few minutes Baba took me down memory lane, telling me the different parts of Igboland, where he had served as a Police Officer. Not just did he speak Igbo fluently, he went ahead to name the several friends he had all over the Southeast. Of course, he made sure that I was very well entertained and capped the visit with prayers both for my family and for the sustenance of my friendship with his son. From that year, it also became an annual ritual for me, which I looked forward to. Having lost my own father much earlier (whose company I still miss), I cherished the times I spent with Baba and always looked forward to receiving his yearly blessings. We all attended his 90th birthday, same as Mama’s birthday celebration only last year.

Baba’s death has left me sad, not because he was not old enough, but because I have lost yet another father and friend, and deprived of another opportunity of tapping from his outstanding wisdom and intelligence. I will forever miss him. Nevertheless, it was a foremost philosopher that once said that “to die, one must not only forget but be forgotten and he who is not forgotten is not dead”. Baba certainly cannot be forgotten and to that extent, he is not dead. He has only proceeded ahead of us to take a well-deserved rest.

May God grant his soul eternal rest.

Grandpa or Papa Ola as we fondly refered to you, I thank God for your life and legacy. You were an integral part of my childhood and I have many fond memories of coming to your house during the holidays. You were an example to us, as one of the pioneering members of the Nigerian police force and as kids we knew misbehaving would not be tolerated. I thank God for the relationships those childhood visits nurtured as today is has blossomed into strong family ties for the Marinho family. I thank God for your generosity and the Christian example you provided and know that you are resting with your maker. My sincere condolences to Grandma, Bro. Ola, Sis. TRIBUTE TO MY GREATEST FATHER IN A MILLION
The news of your passing onto glory was received with shock and heavy heart my inestimable father. Your demise was revealed to me by my junior brother in the early hours, but we take solace in the fact that you have gone to be with the Almighty God. Daddy you came, saw and conquered, and of course, fought gallantly the good fight of Faith and finished your course. (2Timothy 4:7-8) “You have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, you kept the faith: henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give you at that day: and not to you only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
Daddy, the family is thankful to God for the opportunity of having a righteous, loving, hardworking public officer, devoted Catholic, caring father to a fault. Your role model and bridge building qualities have since metamorphosed all to a one great family.
As often times, a child may wish to say a few but much, just on how he knows his father, but short of words. At some times, the timing for this might be far, yet time tick by asking for an occasion like today. Daddy is a gladiator, as many testify and we the children too. For he has won a place of pride in the print of time. At often times, many see you daddy for that love taught by Jesus Christ shown in your love for others. At some other times, we refuse to accept you're human for you remain the model of a good father. Offering so much even without holding back. You are a disciplinarian, a sticker to the truth: To fairness and respect for others as rule of the game. We tentacles, make bold to say it loudly, "Thank you Jesus for giving us this kind of father, who taught us to know you, to be humble, respect and upright. Thank you for been the pillar of Marinho Elepo Aran of great Brazilian descendants. The love you showered on us cannot be quantify. Oh how we’ll miss you. I remember vividly when we were to proceed to Abuja in April, you asked when we will come back as usual and in response, I told you very soon not knowing that was the last time we will see you. You prayed for us and blessed us.
Daddy, you shall be greatly missed but our consolation is in the fact that you are with the Angels. Sun re oo
