A TRIBUTE TO MY SPECIAL LOVING FATHER
Daddy, What a privilege to have you as a father. I’m thankful to God for making you my father and custodian. You’re one in a million. You mean so much to me, my super star, JJ Baba, an illustrious Son of Lagos Island of the Brazilian stock. Lagos for show and in deed you enjoyed life to the fullest. There was never a dull moment with you.
You’re very present in every of my endeavors in life. I learnt that when I was born, I brought great Joy into your life, and since then, we had jelled very well. Recently, one of my class mates in Holy Child College, asked after you: “Francisca, how is your Dad, always arranging for security for our inter house-sports”. My colleagues in abuja always asked after your well being. Thanks for the role you played when I had issues in the office. Romania was home to you, colleagues in Malaysia and New York, had encounter with you either virtually or personally.
Daddy, It’s so painful that I wasn’t on ground when you passed on, but thank goodness we all had a video call with you on 28 June 2021 to thank and appreciated your fatherly care and love and also reassured you that all will be well with us. Then on Wednesday 30 June, 2021, I personally had a video call with you and we prayed together for over 40 minutes, you opened your eyes in acknowledgment of everything going on. I’m confidently assured that you’re with the saints triumphant at the bosom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, where we shall meet to part no more. One of my friends and prayer partners testified of your salvation.
You’re an encourager and a support to all that had contact with you. To Nigeria, you gave your best in the Security and Intelligence Community in different capacities and places, in a quiet but critical role in Nation Building and National Security. Thank you Dad, through you I served Nigeria in my chosen career.
You helped the less privileged, Your community will miss you. You were so accommodating and welcoming, you were a rallying point in the family.
We shall miss the Annual Christmas party which has become an annual ritual for over 50 years, from Obalende to Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and still continued in Ogba. So many good times down memory lane, in the 1960s, 70s, 80s, …when you took us to Bristol Hotel, Lagos, I can never forget that outing, Police Officers Mess, Awolowo Road, Lagos Island Club, when you would come back late from work and must have bought Suya or Fish and chips from Police officers mess..
Daddy, you’re a man of a very strong faith and trusted that God answers prayers, I will always key into your tenacity, always with a grateful heart, singing hallelujah songs, and would usually say, “Laide Pastor, pray for me”.
You were such a loving husband to your wife, Mojoyinola (Iya Ola, or M) and wonderful father to your biological and other children alike. You were firm but kind hearted, of great integrity and dutiful, Role model per excellence. I’m so humbled to be your daughter.
Daddy, you were full of life and we were all looking forward to celebrating your 94th birthday as we celebrated your 93rd birthday with Uncle, Chief FRA MARINHO, who transited this world unexpectedly on 18 January, 2021.
I have hope in Christ that you’re resting in the bosom of the Lord where we shall all meet to part no more, 1 Corinthians 15:19 “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
