November 26, 2023

BIRTH AND PARENTAGE:

Dr. Chuks Ogala was born into the family of late Mr. and Mrs. Iheaka Ude Ogalaof Ndeagwu, Amutu, Amaokwe Item in Bende L.G.A. of Abia State on June 9, 1955. According to our father, he named him “ Chukwundewo” (God Thank You) in appreciation to God Almighty for giving him male children – The first being Iheanacho and this the second one.

EDUCATION:

He started his primary school in Jos , Plateu State. At the break of the civil war, he returned to Umuahia where he completed his primary education in Mission Hill Methodist Primary School, Umuahia. He proceeded to Oboro Secodary School for his secondary education which was interrupted by the civil war. When the war ended in 1970, he relocated to Lagos and did his classes three and four before returning to Oboro Secondary School Umuahia to complete his O’level education in June 1973.

In 1977, he moved to the United States of America to further his education. While in the USA, he attended Mt. Saint Mary’s College Emitsburg, Maryland, U.S.A. where he had his Pre-medical Biology. Later on, he relocated to India to further his education. While in India, he attended Mar Ivanos College, University of Kerala, Trivandrum, Kerala State and obtained another degree in commerce (Accounting).

Dr. Chuks, in his deep desire to acquire more knowledge in virtually every sphere of life, returned to Nigeria in 1989 and decided to go back to University of Lagos Teaching Hospital (LUTH) where he qualified as a medical laboratory scientist. He excelled and continued to acquire more academic and professional qualifications until the last day.

He was the Managing Director of Malgoz Clinical Laboratories Limited, Lagos.

SOCIAL LIFE:
He was a very humble and private person. He had such a pleasant and humane personality at first sight such that he would not allow you to leave his presence feeling dejected.

RELIGION:
He was so dedicated to serving the Almighty creator that the church deemed him fit to be anointed a deacon. In fact, two weeks before his death, he confided in me that when he recovers (which, unfortunately, did not happen), he will apply to be assisting our Archbishop in his day to day work.

LAST MILES:
Our brother took ill sometime this year. The doctors, who are specialists in their various fields and we did our best to make sure that he survived but who are we to question God.

On Saturday, November 11, 2023, at about 8.30 am, it pleased the Lord to call him home.
