A TRIBUTE TO AN AMIABLE GENTLEMAN Death what are u? Are you a call? Are you a solution? Are you an Answer? I received the unexpected news of your death with a great shock and deep sorrow in my hearts. We find it difficult to believe that you are no more. Though we had looked forward to more years of our interaction with you, we cannot question God since it pleased him to call you unto eternal rest at this time. Oh, my amiable Chief Justice Chukwudifu Akunne Oputa, you are a man of peace, wisdom and truth. You had such a wonderful sense of humour. Your demise is a great loss to us. I will never forget May 4th 2014 the day, the hands of death snatched you away from all of us. It happened like a dream and I was so confused because I never believed you will die. May the good Lord grant you eternal rest in his bossom and may he divinely console your wife, children, grand children, and all of us who mourn you. Adieu, Man of Peace! Laa nke oma ezigbo nna m. He is a legend, an iconic jurist, a custodian of our tradition. I enjoyed watching him partake in the Ogene festival in Ameshi, obodo girigiri, and I can hardly believe that he is the same icon outisde such events or gatherings. Having met him several times in Oguta in the late 80s, I was blown away by his peaceful presence, simplicity and the aura he exudes. Ogbuagu noo di mma. Naa nke oma.
