Remarkable Cathy

July 17, 2020
Jan was climbing a ladder to work on our house.  He grinned and said to not tell his wife.  When we met Cathy, we understood.  She was a remarkably caring, kind and steadfast woman, who obviously loved life.  She had taught elementary school, and the patience, curiosity, and joy of teaching young children defined her love of life.  She loved beauty in nature and in her surroundings, and she especially loved and was proud of her family.  She became a master gardener through dedication and study, and she recounted the intelligence and mastery of her daughter Lynn.  She was overjoyed that Lynn found the love of her life, just as Cathy and Jan knew instantly that they were meant to be together.

It has been a pleasure to know and appreciate both Cathy and Jan as true friends.  We will continue to miss Cathy.  Our prayers are with her family.

I had the pleasure to be Cathy’s water aerobics instructor at the Y.  I always looked forward to both her and Jan coming because of both their infectious smiles and positive attitudes.  They both worked out hard in the water but also participated in our “floating cocktail party” in the deep end.  I am so sorry for your loss and know that you will miss this beautiful woman.

Cathy was a lovely person!

I have so enjoyed getting to know Cathy the last year and a half. She was the best neighbor and together we were the backbone of the Parkside Book Club. We were able to attend an author event together with other members and had an enjoyable evening. Cathy and I became close quickly. Her easy manner and strong opinions made it easy for this Yankee to connect with her. She so enjoyed our neighborhood, going to the pool with Austin & Lauren, and doing nature walks at Mason Mill Park.  I am so happy she was able to come home to be with her family, but, selfishly, I wish we would have had more time together. Cathy was a true gem of a person. I will miss her more than I can say. Family, she dearly, dearly loved each one of you. Burt and I send our deepest, most heartfelt condolences. ❤

So very sorry to hear. We didn’t have a chance to share more dinners together. Thinking of you. We really enjoyed our times together.
Sending you our thoughts.
