This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Cyrus H. Peters III.

Please feel free to comment below and/or share your stories and pictures on the stories tab!  These cherished memories have truly been enjoyable to read and we love and appreciate them all!

Born on January 21, 1942, in Orange, New Jersey to the late Cyrus II and Elizabeth Peters.  Even though his love for trucking was apparent early on, his foremost love was for our Heavenly Father, Jehovah.  He dedicated his life at the age of 10 and was baptized at Yankee Stadium on July 22, 1953.  His sister Mari-Beth remembers "he would read his Bible every day."
Cyrus attended schools in East Orange and Irvington, New Jersey and studied auto mechanics.  Upon graduation he entered the full time ministry service and built many treasured relationships along the way.  His service included, preaching in segregated areas, during civil rights eras, attending Gilead and Circuit Overseer work in Liberia, West Africa.
In 1968 he married his life partner, Yvonne Johnson and she joined him in the missionary work.  Together they taught and encouraged many.  While in Africa, their daughter Monique was born and upon returning to the US they settled in San Francisco and became parents to Cyrus IV.  Cyrus continued to devote his time to encouraging the friends in the congregation and he was more than happy to share his hand written notes in his personal bible.  He continued with his passion of truck driving for over 50 years.
Cyrus is survived by his wife Yvonne, his children Monique (James), Cyrus IV (Jessica) and 5 grandchildren, Deja, Ylonnie, Cyrus V, Quirinius and Rene.  As well as family including his sister, MariBeth (Frank) brother in laws, Richard, Frank and Theodore (Joyce), sister in law, Wendy and many nieces and nephews.
Over the years, they had the pleasure of meeting and adopting many spiritual sons and daughters who they loved.
He will always be remembered by his friends and family for his tenacity and dedicated service.

The memory that’s come to mind the most this week, is from my father‘s funeral which was 14 years ago this month. In the midst of all the well wishes, condolences, support and love, the Peters family came through the line and Br. Peters said to me: ‘This is personal now. Satan has reached into your family and taken someone directly from you. It should make you angry and indignant, and determined to defeat him by stucking with Jehovah until the end.’ His words have never lost their impact.

CP, Monique, I share this sentiment with you and pray it strengthens your family as much as it has mine, after the loss of your father. And Sis. Peters, I cannot think of you without remembering him. Why would I even want to? As much as you’ve both accomplished in Jehovah’s service individually, you are inseparable in my heart. Your examples of faith and love and friendship and family continue for us all right now, and for an eternity as Jehovah holds you in his heart.

Just wanted to send my condolences to the Peters Family. Cyrus was a wonderful servant of Jehovah and from all the experiences heard today he will be truly missed. I will remember his cowboy boots and hat fondly. Yvonne and him are really a gift from Jehovah. They are the best spiritual “Cousins” that a family member could have. All your family in the Bay Area and down South wish you comfort and peace. We look forward to seeing him again in the New World…

The service for our dear brother was encouraging. Psalms 90:10 says that Cyrus Peter's was a ...Mighty one... we were blessed to have him in our lives. Truly a true messenger for Jehovah.

Today, I have a meaningful life because of my spiritual father, Cyrus Peter. JEHOVAH sent Cyrus to me to extract the false teachings that had been embedded in my mind by false religion (Pentecost). Using my own King James Bible, Cyrus directed my attention to Ps. 83:18, and presented JEHOVAH'S name to me for first time in my life! After drilling Cyrus with biblical questions that I needed clarity on, I began to witness his gift! Effortlessly, time and time again, Cyrus showed me scripture after scripture that answered my questions. After completing a study of the TRUTH BOOK, THE UNITED IN WORSHIP, and part of BABYLON THE GREAT HAS FALLEN book, I dedicated my life to JEHOVAH and was baptized in 1981 at the DISTRICT CONVENTION! Noteworthy was that Cyrus never missed my study. As Brother Sherron stated, Cyrus was my spiritual mentor.
Cyrus was a fine spritual Shepherd! Missing from the meeting or service, you got a phone call from Cyrus. He truly shepherd the flock in his care. Yvonne, Monique, and C.P., need I to say that JEHOVAH truly blessed you with an amazing spiritual husband, father, and friend who truly left his mark on so many hearts! Yvonne, I commend you and your family for lovingly caring for Cyrus during his final years. May JEHOVAH continue to support, bless, and strengthen you. My wife and I extend our heartfelt love and support to you and look forward to the celebration of welcoming back a wonderful man Cyrus Peters.

Very few people come into our lives that have such a profound impact on us. If you were fortunate enough to meet, and get to know Cycus Peter's, then you were forever, "Cyrusized!" Thats the only word I could come up with that explains, or describes what it meant to be taught, counseled, instructed, mentored, and loved by Cyrus! When Curus and Yvonne came to Hayes Valley, I was just a teenager. I remember meeting the family for the first time. And how excited the entire congregation was to have this new family who had just arrived from Africa! Monique was just a small , very adorable toddler at the time. Some years later, CP was born, and Yvonne was so excited to have a son, join their family!
Both Cyrus and Yvonne were so instrumental in my young life! Their spiritual encouragement, and example is what helped me during those difficult teen years! Yvonne would study with me, and invite me to join her in the ministry regularly! Cyrus would always provide loving advice and counsel from the Bible whenever it was needed. I echo the sentiments of many about how special the Peter's Family was to all of us! Cyrus made a good name with Jehovah! The tall brother with colorful, but tasteful suits, and big cowboy boots! Looking forward to welcoming him and many more in the New World!! We love you, Yvonne, Monique, CP, and family!

There will never be another Cyrus Peters!

Cyrus was my Spiritual Mentor.

Cyrus took on many roles for me: Spiritual Father, Compassionate Listener, Role Model and Friend.

When we had the 2020 Hayes Valley Reunion, many dear friends had the opportunity to express their feelings not only about their fond memories about Hayes Valley, but also about Cyrus. No doubt, he appreciated that very much.

One of the most touching expressions, I heard came from Victor Moore, when he said: "Where Would I be Without Cyrus."

I feel the same way! My life would have definitely been different.

Cyrus will truly be missed. Cyrus and Yvonne were one of the first couples that I met at Tennyson. I will never forget the first time I met him.  His height was quite imposing, but he wore an infectious smile. Then I'd look at his beautiful wife and she wore that same infectious smile. I knew he was a gentle giant and one of Jehovah's dear servants.  Cyrus embodied the scripture in Ephesians 5:28,29. Husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. A man who loves his wife loves himself. For no man ever hated his own body, but feeds
and cherishes it.  I felt Cyrus always gave honor to his wife and all he encouraged through use of the scriptures and he therefore gave honor to Jehovah.  I will always remember his smile and his genuine kindness.

One of my cherished memories of Cy when he and Yvonne came to our hall in south city. He sat down with all us young ones I think I was 9 or 10 and talked about our motivation to do more in Jehovahs service and he shared a scripture with us that has been one of my motivating forces through my life. Luke 17:10: good for nothing slaves what we have done is what we ought to have done. You do what’s right you do your best cause that’s what you should the right thing not for glory or privileges cause you love Jehova it’s what you ought to do.
And if my brother was alive he was always thankful that Cy wore boots and a cowboy tie!
Thank you to your whole family for being a beautiful influence in our lives! Can’t wait to see Cy again real soon!

Dear family,
Our hearts are deeply moved over the loss of our dear brother. His life was a reflection of how a life of self sacrifice has been filled joy and Many rich blessings. The friends made and the experiences gained will stain our hearts and memories as a good example of how serving Jehovah is the Best Life Ever! May Jehovah grant you all peace and endurance to face the future with confidence knowing for sure that when Jehovah calls, He will answer! We will see our dear brother again in God's new world when all is New! Until then may his example serve to keep us focused on the prize! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Revelation 21:3,4!

Dear Peters Family, we are so sorry for your painful loss. Cyrus and Yvonne were always such a support during our special years together. It was hard to see Yvonne grieving the part of Cyrus she already lost. Yet, her strength encouraged us as we watched a wonderful wife with a heart full of faith. We will wait on Jehovah alongside you and the family, our dear Yvonne…“May your loyal love rest upon us, O Jehovah, While we keep waiting for you.”~ Psalm 33:22 Love, George&Judy~

Cyrus Peters passing is a huge loss to thousands. What a spiritual giant and compassionate Brother. He not only took great care of his wife, Yvonne and their children, Monique and CP, but he personally took great care of many of us, his spiritual brothers & sisters. His tall stature and large cowboy boots were exceeded only by his spiritual greatness. I'm not aware of any elder who knew the Bible as well as Cyrus. He often used that knowledge to snatch many of us out of the mouth of lions sent by Jah's greatest adversary.

Cyrus also helped young ones in the congregation. He often invited my son, Anthony, on trips he was taking with his own son, CP. How I appreciated this kindness and sacrifice. Time & space here cannot contain all of the numerous attributes of our dear Brother. WE will miss him greatly!

We love you, Cyrus and will anxiously await the day Jehovah brings you back into our lives. You will NEVER leave our hearts.❤️

Bro. Cyrus Peters was the reason I became active again in 2013. While working in Redwood City, he came into my job and said hello and gave me a magazine. I started thinking seriously then about returning, but the job was keeping me from going back at that time. A short time later he came back in with another magazine. That was when he changed my thinking and I quit the job, retired early, so as to make the meetings become a reality again.
I never saw him again, but I can't wait to thank him in the New World!
He never gave up on anyone despite their problems.
My deepest regards to his family.
Thank you, Bro. Peters, till we meet again!

I have lost a spiritual father in Cyrus. Without Cyrus’ teaching skills, his reasonableness, patience, and understanding, it would have been almost impossible for me to come in the Truth when I did. I always thank Jehovah for using the right person to make the Truth appealing to me. I was a college student from Nigeria when I walked into the Kingdom Hall out of curiosity in 1984 or 1985. Cyrus was the second brother to start a study with me, and that proved to be the best thing that ever happened to me.

I remember my then roommate saying to Cyrus, you must have a Master’s Degree, to which Cyrus responded “I got a Master’s degree from a school called Gilead.” Of course, he went on to explain the value of theocratic education.

Cyrus was special to me and I thank Jehovah that we will see him again, when our lives will not be interrupted with the consequences of this inherent sin.

April 24
I remember coming home from work, one evening, and I sat down and started praying out loud, saying, "if there is a God, please help me to see that there is more to life then what I am experiencing now."  That Saturday morning, there was a knock on my door. I answered, and there was this tall man in a suit, Brother Peters. After a friendly greeting and sharing his presentation, Cyrus offered me "The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life" study aid and of course a free home bible study. I accepted the book and the free bible study. After he left, I realized, God, Jehovah had answered my prayer. That next Saturday, guess who was knocking on my door? Yes, it was Yvonne and Cyrus. I invited them in and I remember him saying that his wife will be conducting the bible study with me. And I said "that is fine, I just want to learn about God and his promises." We had some good times studying the bible together, as well as eventually attending the meetings. I was so happy to have met such nice, friendly, trustworthy people who loves Jehovah God, as well as all the other dear brothers and sisters I have met through the years.
Cyrus and Yvonne will always have a special place in my heart. It will be so wonderful seeing them together again, sitting at my table, laughing and talking while sharing a meal together.

Acts 24:15 And I have hope toward God, ...., that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Brother Peters, Yvonne, and the kids were loved by our family , my mother Hattie, my stepfather Hyler, and my uncle Jesse Scott back when they were in the Hayes Valley congregation in San Francisco. We made several trips up to Camp Mather in Yosemite and had some great times. Cyrus was an excellent example of a spiritual man and as cool as ever wearing those African dyshekis shirts he’d always wear . I remember him playing King David in a drama at the Cow Palace one year. My sincere condolences to Yvonne and the family!

There's not enough room in this tributes comment box to say it all; so I won't try. For several years Cy was not just my dear friend; he was my beloved Brother. Before he & I 1st met, his mom was already very close to my wife & I. His mom had pretty much "adopted" us as her spiritual son & daughter. By then his sister Mari Beth [Gigi] & brother-in-law Frank, and his entire Atlanta natural family included us as family. So when Cy & I met I told him he was stuck with me as a brother. He expressed he was "cool with that"! And for all the years since, we've been Brothers. And boy was he "cool" from the crown of his head to his big belt buckles to his cool cowboy boots! Our spiritual conversations were often as deep, insightful, fun, and uplifting as any other good, spiritual meeting would be. When he made his annual visit to Atlanta we'd gladly rearrange our week's schedule to make sure! we went to wherever he'd be giving a congregation's Public Talk ~ always! And in advance of his trip here, he always lovingly Insisted we book our annual breakfast at his fave breakfast spot here - Waffle House. And I'd never skip those annual 1-on-1 times with him even though I don't really care to eat at WH! and only ate there with him because he was in town. Let me conclude by saying we always enjoyed our time together delving into some fine Tower points, or updates & direction from the Slave. But Cy also made sure to leave our annual 1-on-1 time together only after inquiring & knowing for sure that Denise was well; we were happy in our Pioneer Service; the Brothers were "treating me well" and we were fully engaged in serving the sheep in our congregation. Cy's attitude about that was: "Bro! ~ that's all that really matters ~ God's sheep!" Cy was more than a dear friend to me; he is my dear beloved Brother. I'm looking forward to seeing him reunited with Yvonne, his family, and all the rest of us. Praise Jah! thru Christ, for the resurrection hope!

Dear Peters Family,

My condolences for your loss. May our God Jehovah bring you comfort during these challenging times.
I met brother Peters when I was a teenager, I was attending the much loved, Hays Valley Congregation. This was in the early 80s.
What I remember most about Brother Peters is that he always had a smile on his face and the manner in which he delivered his talks, very moving.
The last time I saw Brother Peters, is when he gave the Memorial Talk for another dear Hays Valley member, that also passed away, sister Barabra Stringer.
We all are looking forward to that glorious day, in which our Lord Jesus Christ, calls those in the memorial tombs.

I have to express an example of why Cyrus was such a wonderful Shepherd and constantly came to the aid of the fatherless child, the single sisters raising children on their own and "like" others with concerns within Hayes Valley Congregation.

I remember when my dearest friend, a single parent, had sent her daughter to, what was considered, a prestigious pre-school in our area. It was pretty apparent that a particular educator was very bias as to who they felt had the right to attend that school and showed it. My friend had poured out her heart to Jehovah and then Cyrus over what she was experiencing.

What did Cyrus do? - He donned his best suit, carried his briefcase, drove over early one morning and walked with mother and daughter to the school. Introduced himself to said educator, as an advocator for the sister's family. After that very brief meeting, of very few words, almost needless to say, our dear sister and daughter had no more problems! Now, THAT'S A SHEPHERD!

Lloyd and I would like to say how much we appreciated Cyrus' zeal for the ministry. We could always count on his support for Sunday service. His love of deep study was also very evident He always had something with depth to share.
And he always put in a lot of effort and time preparing his parts for meetings.
We look forward to greeting him soon, along with his beautiful family.

I met Cyrus and Yvonne in the summer of August 1978 in the now defunct Hayes Valley congregation. What I didn’t know at that time is that the years from 1978 to 1985 would prove to be an enriching point in my career because of Cyrus’ help and assistance. Plus, his caliber as our Bible study conductor using the Watchtower was unmatched. He was very good when witnessing at the doors and so was Yvonne. Every time you look around, Yvonne was starting Bible studies right and left! I found much pleasure working with them and learning from them in how to teach when engaged in field service in Hayes Valley territory. In addition, I captured a lot from Cyrus’ supportive, motivated, and optimistic abilities as a faithful servant of God that’s very useful to me now! Also, he helped me to see what a true shepherd should be like in taking care of the precious sheepfold. What a fascinating’ time it will be when he ‘stands up to life again’ which is oh, so near! We thank Jehovah for giving us Jesus, his “ indescribable [free] gift” that makes it possible
for us to see Cyrus again and so many others soon!

Cyrus Peters was certainly one who made a memorable name with Jehovah by all who got to know him as a friend and brother in serving in the Westborough Congregation in South San Francisco. He was a loving shepherd, elder, who encouraged and uplifted the spirits of all, especially those with serious depression. His smile and kind demeanor was refreshing and made him approachable to all. Cyrus was an effective preacher and teacher of the good news. His excellent Bible knowledge was evident in his meeting parts and Public Talks. Our dear friend will be missed and we all await with eagerness and joy of seeing him in the resurrection. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family

Yvonne and kids, Thank you for sharing Cy with the rest of us. He was always giving of his time and sharing of a few words of practical wisdom that he had learned, accompanied by his infectious laugh.
Cyrus was a mentor to me and helped me to grow both individually and especially spiritually. He did what was right despite varying opinions and when I saw those cowboy boots, I knew the Cavalry had come!
Despite the distance in time and miles, I think of you all often and fondly. Loretta and I look forward to a grand reunion soon to come. Cy won’t be forever missed because we are convinced that death cannot separate us from Jehovahs love through Christ (Rom.8:38,39).

Dear Gigi and Family,

I did not have the wonderful opportunity to meet your brother Cyrus, but I do know you. If he is anything like you, he was a wonderful person. I learned at the service about the way that he helped others. Even children that were not his own, he encouraged them and took an active part in their lives. And others whom he embraced and made them part of his family too. All the lives that he touched were affected forever. I really enjoyed hearing all the wonderful things that was said.
During this difficult time Jehovah will soothe your hearts and help you to cope because he promises to do so at Psalm 34:18. I hope that this scripture uplifts and comfort you and your family. You all will continue to be in my prayers.

Your Sister,

Angelia Smith

I thank Jehovah for giving me a spiritual father who never gave up on me. Every time I turned around there he was, willing to take me on visit with older friends or bring me to his home for dinner. He taught me how to care for the congregation and many other things I now see are so spiritually needed as an Elder. His family was my family. Thank you YVONNE for all your love, we will see him soon.

I will never ever forget Cyrus and the teacher he was. I remember while at Hayes Valley - friends coming to OUR congregation to visit when they knew that Cyrus was going to be the speaker yet HE was sooooo humble and just did his job as a loving shepherd! What an example for all of us and Yvonne too - always pleasant, always spiritual, always a true friend.

What a grand time for all of us when Cyrus wakes up!!

I was living in San Francisco, in the Hayes Valley Congregation when Cyrus and Yvonne became a part of our Congregation. They were both instrumental in my spiritual growth.

In my opinion, two of the gifts Cyrus received from Jehovah were being a great teacher, and preacher! Cyrus was the one who taught me how to study for, and prepare comments for the Watchtower Study. When Cyrus conducted the Watchtower Study you were really taught. His insight and understanding of the scriptures he shared and if you paid attention you learned!

One day I asked Cyrus, where do you get the things you say, the side comments you make and he said (and I am paraphrasing this). . . When you study your Watchtower and comment on what is there, that is good, but everyone who studies already got that. - We all, get the same information.  He said you have to study more than just the surface. GO BELOW THE SURFACE! Which means doing some research to get a deeper understanding of things and then you can bring something to the lesson that is related, but something new, that everyone doesn’t already have.

Back then we didn’t have all the wonderful online study and research things that we have now but we had the Aid to Bible Understanding. So I learned how to do research and not just think on a surface level. That has helped me over the years, down to this day with my studying and comments.

I thank Jehovah for teachers like Cyrus Peters III -  Brendalee

What wonderful memories I have of Bro. Cyrus Peters! What a special spiritual gift he and Yvonne were to our congregation, Hayes Valley. Even as a young pre-teen I was struck by his vibrant spiritual personality and the beautiful way he taught the congregation. He was a powerful teacher and the way he conducted the watchtower made you want to “dig deeper” and study the Bible more. He and Yvonne were sorely missed when they decided to leave Hayes Valley and go to a congregation closer to their home. Although we didn’t have the opportunities to see each other much over the years when we did see each other at the Cow Palace for our district conventions it was like old times. I will always appreciate Bro Peters and love him from my heart because of the spiritual impact he and Yvonne (my spiritual mother) had on me at a young age. Looking forward to being reunited with him and spending forever with him and his family in the New World soon to come!

I will never forget attending my 1st International Convention (1969 in L.A., I believe) and all the delegates came "home". I saw this very tall brother with his wife in Liberian African attire on stage. Didn't know them then, but was so impressed. Who knew that years later, we would be blessed to have him and his wife and his daughter, Monique, join my then congregation (Hayes Valley, S.F.) . What an outstanding teacher and Shepherd he would prove to be. I will always love Cyrus and Yvonne Peters❣

Here I am send me, with style.

April 30
A HEART WIDER  THAN HIS ARMS OUTSTRETCHED
A SPIRIT TALLER THAN HIS SOUL, A STYLE OF HIS OWN.
First memory: And HE says " SO, we've met some of you, but, WE'RE NEW HERE, in south city, so, YOU-ARE-ALL, invited for some GOOD FOOD, and Hos-pi-ta-li-ty! AND that means ALL-OF-YA'LL, Ok? SO DON'T BE SHY, just come on over, and YES, SHE CAN COOK! And-we're-ready-for-all-of-you. Let's hang, let's eat, let's get to know you, and you us, SO AS A CONGREGATION, we can get tite with all you south city folks.
Cause-this-is-HOW- we-do-it. Ok, alright see you all there! "

And his loving wife and family had the food prepared and
it was all hot and really good food made with love and um-um!
I think everybody came.

Second memory:  sitting front row center. Late 80s Cyrus giving a talk for hillside or skyline " His eyes got so big and widely oppened, and I was attentive but my eyes were probably drooping as they did as they do,so as he was reading a judgment message from maybe Isaiah? He swings h8s eyes and looking right me, in the eyes, it was like they had garage door openers built in they popped wide it felt so close like his hungry eyes could take chomp, mine quickly opened very wide only then did his gaze turn away.  I've never felt such an intimate and powerful connection to a speaker, before or have one sense, but it was all part of the training.
Wow, Did he grab my attention!! And after he said, " Did I disturb you brother?" ??. "So,are you tired working late shift? Or are youjust a night owl watching tv perhaps? I had no excuse I just had lazy eye lids I suppose, no I said. " Well did you enjoy my talk? " Yes I replied, except when you looked me in the eyes and your eyes got so big.
" well you opened your eyes, but it took a while. I just wanted to make sure you didn't nod off during my talk! And it's rude to snore during a meeting. Was I really asleep?  I THOUGHT I WAS AWAKE?
" I think I was the only one who noticed, but you perked right up."
Since you like the dark ,wanna try some street work, do you do street work, and I'm not like the kind you might have tried here where you pick a nice spot and stand like a statue close your parked car in the sun smile at folks walking by!  A great opportunity has just opened up, so you can take it or someone else will. Would you like to join me and try some REAL-STREET-WORK!" Jehovah's Gifts in Men

I love CandY
I thank Jehovah every night for our Elders, Overseers, Ministerial Servants around the world as well as their Wives that support them in the work that they do shepherding the congregations.  These gifts in men and their loving wives have definitely had a positive upbuilding lasting impact in my Spiritual journey along the road to Everlasting Life.  CandY were a great example of such a loving Sheparding team.
I remember when I first became acquainted with the Peters family in Hayes Valley Congregation.  At the time I was working in the San Francisco downtown financial district.  I was not yet aware of his trucking business, but there was a lot of construction projects going on.  One morning, I was crossing the street on my way to work when this massive Peterbuilt-like blue truck pulled up to the intersection and blew the trucker's horn at me.  I was startled and puzzled by this blaring loud horn, the driver wearing this tall Western hat, looking like the guy in that "Super Fly" movie, yes, I panicked.  But when he smiled, I was so relieved to finally recognize that it was Brother Peters from our congregation. He probably got a good laugh at me that day.  I saw him a few times during his hauling runs in the area, so eventually he invited me to climb up and check out the "Flea Flicker" namely his blue truck.  I was so awed by its colossal size and what seemed 15 shifting gears.  My office building had a great cafeteria, so I was so delighted that a couple of times, Sister Yvonne came to join me for refreshments.  Wow, how encouraging.
It seemed as if Brother Cyrus and Yvonne's Dad, Brother Ted Johnson, were Twins.  Not in appearances, as Brother Cyrus was a tall thin man and Brother Ted was medium built and much shorter, but they both were identical in their "No Nonsense" approach when it came to spiritual matters and council.  At times, they could be very blunt "Ouch," did not bite their tongs, did not honey coat responses, they were very direct, straight up, without any chasers, however, you knew that their expressions came from a place of heartfelt, sincere love for Jehovah, love for the congregation, and loving concern for each of us as individual sheep.
Hayes Valley had a large attendance.  At times, there was standing room only, yet Brother Peters noticed everyone, even commending and encouraging our children.  Occasionally, during the Ministry school, he would include commendations for our children when he noticed their efforts in the ministry.  At congregation outings, I recall him playing ball sports with the children, or funning around with them in the swimming pool.
Brother Peters also was a great Watchtower conductor, but he made clear his expectations of the congregation, "This is NOT a Watchtower study!  This is a Bible study USING the Watchtower as an aid."  Sometimes, he would even announce how many scriptures was in the lesson, letting us know that he was looking for plenty of scriptures in our comments.  To this day, I practice examining all my scriptures in my lessons, plus I read 5 pages of the Bible daily.  His public discourses included memorable illustrations, such as, "Do you want your Shield of Faith the size of a Pot top, or large enough to protect the Entire Person from Satan's arrows?"
I thank Jehovah for our Gifts in men.  I thank Jehovah for Brother Cyrus and Wife Yvonne for their lasting impact and guidance they've had in my life. I'm still on the road to Everlasting Life.
