CYPRIAN UDECHUKWU AGBAZUE

September 14th, 1949 - March 19th, 2021




Cyprian popularly known as Cy was born to Agbazue Udechukwu and his wife Alice Agbazue both from Umuezani, Egbema, Ekwusigo LG, Ozubulu, Anambra State on the 14th of September 1949.  Cy attended BSC Orlu before the war.  During the Nigerian Civil War, he served briefly in the Biafran army.  After the war, he completed his secondary education passing out in flying colours.  He worked for a newspaper company as a journalist till he gained admission to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.  He graduated with a second class upper in Land Surveying and later obtained a Degree in Quantity Surveying.


He met his wife, Dr. Chinyere Agbazue in Enugu campus and they got married in 1978.  They have three boys namely Engr. Chuka Stanley Agbazue, Kenechi Kingsley Agbazue, Ikenna Kenneth Agbazue and a daughter, Amaka Gloria Agbazue.  He was a good father and husband.


He worked briefly for Kwara College of Technology Ilorin, and Federal Housing Authority, Lagos.  He set up a Quantity Surveying practice known as CYVA Partnership in Lagos which he managed till his home call.


Cyprian Agbazue was a fervent soldier for Christ.  With some friends, they founded the International Foundation of Christian Unity, a nonprofit aimed at unifying Christian churches.  He was the author of ‘The Seven Priorities,’ a book geared to establishing the common unifying elements of Christianity.


He was a National Director of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship (FGBMFI) in Nigeria. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Satellite Town was nurtured by him, and it grew in leaps and bounds under his leadership.  He served as chairman of the Badagry Deanery of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, and chairman of the Pastoral Church Council in Archangels Catholic Church.


He was a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, and Nigerian Institute of Land Surveyors.  He was very committed, a good team leader, selfless, honest, and humble.  He was called to glory on Friday 19th March 2021.
