I can't believe you've been gone 3 years now. Your death devastated me but maybe you Monty and Leslie are helping Ma on the other side now. I can see you all smiling from above. I love you Dale.

Well brother it's been almost one year since you left. I pray you do have some peace now. I know how terrible life felt to you. You are with Monty and Leslie now but my heart feels empty and life looks dismal. I can't wait until the day we are all together again.

His Life

Obituary From Taskers Funeral Home

October 2, 2022
Dover- Dale Michael Zopf, 59, of Tanglewood Drive died at his home on Thursday October 1, 2020.

Born April 5, 1961 in Rochester, the son of Gerard J. Zopf and Arlene (Carlson) Wise. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army. Dale received his GED and continued his education throughout his entire life. He had a thirst for knowledge that few can parallel. Dale educated himself in dozens of subjects including computer science and coding, economics and machining. He put a lot of value in having skills that could be translated into multiple career paths.

He began his career as a professional machinist at a young age and worked as a lead machinist for seacoast companies including Eastern Air Devices, Westinghouse and Arch Medical.

Dale was an early adopter of the idea of a world wide web and created his own self contained intranet in the early 90’s. His BBS (bulletin board service) gave local and regional neighbors the opportunity to log on and chat with each other or play a game before the internet was widely available. Before he ended the service he had gained subscribers from New Hampshire to Alaska on Sage Advice BBS. It gave him great joy to share his skills and teach the people in his life the value of digital communication.

Dale met the love of his life in the mid 90’s. They had 25 wonderful years together and had a true partnership. They brought out the best in each other and were lucky to have one another.

Dale was a father by choice to his son, Ian. He did everything in his power to make sure that Ian and his brother Cody had everything they needed to be successful in life. There is nothing in his life that gave him more pride than seeing Ian grow up to be a smart and savvy adult.

He loved to bring his family to live concerts and enjoyed playing guitar or drums in the basement with friends. Often late in the evening you could hear them playing and laughing. He traveled by car, boat or plane with his family every chance he got. One of his favorite places on earth was Alaska. He and Mary got to see the beautiful scenery of sandy beaches and frozen glaciers together.

Dale is survived by his wife, Mary C. (Lemay) Zopf of Dover; his mother Arlene Wise of Farmington, NH; a son, Ian M. Berry of Somersworth; two stepdaughters, Rebecca A. Johnson of South Berwick and Catherine M. Coe of Northwood, NH; a sister, Megan Zopf; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by so many family members and friends including his furry companions Gabriella and Daisy.

Dale is predeceased by his father, Gerard J Zopf; Brothers Monty Zopf and Leslie Zopf; and Nephews Sean Bannon and Cody Zopf.

Friends are invited for an hour of visitation on Tuesday October 6, 2020 from 11:30 to 12:30 at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave, Dover, NH. A service will follow at 12:30 at the Funeral Home.

"I felt a Funeral, in my Brain" by Emily Dickinson

October 25, 2022
I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,
And Mourners to and fro
Kept treading - treading - till it seemed
That Sense was breaking through -

And when they all were seated,
A Service, like a Drum -
Kept beating - beating - till I thought
My mind was going numb -

And then I heard them lift a Box
And creak across my Soul
With those same Boots of Lead, again,
Then Space - began to toll,

As all the Heavens were a Bell,
And Being, but an Ear,
And I, and Silence, some strange Race,
Wrecked, solitary, here -

And then a Plank in Reason, broke,
And I dropped down, and down -
And hit a World, at every plunge,
And Finished knowing - then -
