This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Daniel Ruegg 54 years old , born on December 5, 1965 and passed away on August 7, 2020. We will remember him forever.
Your love for cotton and your influence cannot be forgotten. The staff of the Cotton Development Authority (CDA) remember that your passion for the cotton industry (White Gold Industry) was genuine and unmatched. Rest well, Daniel.
Dear Daniel I can't believe it. It has been a year already. Tomorrow the deaf children start summer camp. Your generosity made this possible. You are a legend and your legacy will live long. Rest in perfect peace! We love you!
I think it was in 1999 when Jost Frei, the former Head of Africa at Novartis Agro AG, introduced Daniel to our team in Dielsdorf. Working with Omya for the rather small Swiss crop protection market had become too organized and was not really the challenge that Daniel was looking for.
After several years with Novartis and Syngenta Daniel then boldly seized the opportunity to realize with RMG a personal dream and ambition and returned to his roots in Abidjan. Having left Syngenta myself shortly after Daniel in 2008 for my mission with CropLife Africa Middle East, I was following with admiration Daniel’s impressive journey and the growth of the RMG group in West Africa. Our CropLife teams in the countries were often privileged to receive generous support for our activities by Daniel and his group. Thank you, Daniel, for all the support you offered to the CropLife network!
Daniel and I met a last time in Accra in October 1999. Daniel continued to be full of energy and ideas to implement his passion, namely bringing modern technologies and quality solutions and inputs to African agriculture and to small holder farmers.
Daniel left us all far too early. However, his passion and commitment for the development of sustainable and productive agricultural systems and his support for small holder agriculture will not be forgotten. It will serve as an example for others to follow.
Daniel, we will always remember your friendship, generosity, and positive mindset. Our thoughts are with your wife and your family.
Rudolf Guyer, former Syngenta colleague to Daniel and President and CEO of CropLife Africa Middle East 2002 to 2017
Daniel, Africa and I, we shared so many hours, common interests, passion, friendship, cameraderie.., and these will never be forgotten. It all started when I was heading Africa for Syngenta Crop Protection some 20 years ago. A very reliable colleague, a good mentor, a fabulous team player and a friend in good and bad times..., very sadly physically gone now, but emotionally and spiritually always present. While the good times we spent in Africa and Switzerland will continue to live in our hearts, we wish his family good strength, heartfelt condolences. may Daniel rest in peace, Martin and former Syngenta SSA clan
I am touched by the very personal notes and saddened by your premature loss. As others have said, we did not always see eye to eye from a business perspective, but that never dented my respect for you and what you always strove to do - unleash agricultural potential in Africa. It is a noble mission and one where you led the way.... Heartfelt condolences to your family, rest well Daniel.
On behalf of the Advans Ghana Savings & Loans family, we present our very sincere condolences to his family, friends and RMG colleagues. It was a shock to hear such a sad and unexpected news.
Working with RMG for a few years, we had the pleasure to meet with him last March. We spent a wonderful 2 hours discussion with him sharing about all the opportunities to develop our partnership. We will continue the work together with your teams having your legacy in mind.
I meet Daniel first time when he worked in Syngenta in charge of West Africa, after 10 years we meet again in Ghana as I become the CEO of Adama West Africa, Daniel was a great guy always willing to assist and to share information. He left us too soon rest in peace. Eli Frumerman
Daniel, I was very shocked and saddened by your sudden and rapid departure. I keep good memories of you. I will always be grateful as you gave me my first professional opportunity. May your soul rest in peace and may your family and friends be comforted.
Sorry to hear that sad news. I want to send my sincere condolences to Daniel's family. We first met in 2008 during the final steps of the Syngenta deal and later in 2011 in Ghana. I keep the memories of a joyful person it was good to be around to. May his soul rest in peace.
all that I remember about you is your constant pleasant face with the usual broad smile. your early departure is a big lost to ghana's agricultural development and the many farmers and field workers who may not be able to bring bread home. REST IN PERFECT PEACE WITH YOUR CREATOR!

Ambassador Philipp Stalder & Team of the Swiss Embassy.
My first encounter with you was in the classing room in Bolgatanga many years ago. The last was as recent as May 28, 2020 during the 10th Seed Cotton Pricing Meeting in Accra. Your passion for COTTON was palpably recognisable even from a distance. CDA will miss you. Rest well, Daniel.
We regret with great grief the loss of Mr. Daniel Ruegg.
Goizper/Matabi would like to transmit its deepest condolences to his family and the RMG staff.
It was a pleasure to cooperate with him during all these years. Oumar Sanogo, Aitor Larrañanga, Lorea Colominas, and myself, were the persons from our company in direct contact with him, but he was well known throughout our organization thanks to his professionalism.
Dear Daniel, It was such a pleasure to learn to know you. Too short but a lasting impression. Thanks for all the energy and kindness you shared with others in this life. ☄ Carianne
Many families especially in the six (6) Northern regions of Ghana are able to put food on their table because of your works. They may not know you in person but anytime they smile, that is their prayer for you sir.
Thank you for accepting to be the soldier Ghana’s agriculture needed in your days.
Daniel is on his journey to heaven And I can see the bright tail lights heading for heaven I can see Daniel waving goodbye Oh it looks like Daniel, it must be the clouds in my eyes Oh God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes
Daniel my brother you are younger than me Do you still feel the pain of the scars that won't heal? Your eyes have died but you see more than I Daniel you're a star in the face of the sky
Excerpt taken from the song 'Daniel' by Sir Elton John.
I still remember the very first time I entered your office with Christian. You encouraged me to work hard and come to you when I needed any help. I never forget your smile always asking "do you this man" , anytime I visit with my bosses. Indeed this departure is very sudden You will forever be missed. Fare thee well Daniel. Damerifa Due!!!!!
I didn't know Daniel personally, but I have learned about his work and his personal worth through my colleague Pascal and our president Alfonso Sanz. On behalf of the entire Sanz group, I want to convey our deepest condolences to the family, hoping that although sadness is inevitable at this time, a joyful memory of him will remain for all who have appreciated him. Jose A. Escrihuela - General Manager Grupo Sanz
Dear Daniel, so sad you had to leave too soon. As a business leader so much you had achieved already and so many great things you still could have realized ..

A brief introduction by the late Andre Soumah, in Geneva, 2007. Time passed, memory faded: distance, time and professional demands, etc., until that unforgettable smile flashed again in the corridors of Wienco, a few years later. The few meetings we had were open, warm, receptive to ideas, with unmistakable genuineness and respect. A true gentleman indeed. You will certainly be missed.
Nante Yie! Damirifa Due to the family. God bless all.
I never met Daniel but heard so many great things about him - his charitable dealings, his spirit to give and put a smile on many faces, the list is endless!

Ours was a very special relationship filled with many ups and downs. We mostly disagreed but our mutual respect for each other always won the day. You will Always smile after our usual banter and encourage me to be be careful. The Be is always twice just to stress the points you usually wanted to make. You were a big dreamer who believed the world was ours for taking. You did your best and we will always miss you. You were just the perfect Gentleman! Rest well Mr Ruegg, your legacy lives on!!!
Memories are a beautiful thing in face of such difficult circumstances. As much as memories leave you nostalgic, it could come with a smile or tears. For a witty, pleasant and good natured person like Daniel to be whisked away like this is shocking and painful. A good coffee, good conversation, work, and more wits are some of my good memories. I cherish all the memories whether with a smile or in tears. It was a great pleasure knowing you. Rest In Peace, Daniel.
I’m not sure how we became friends How it became that every party we had He would be there with Katia Wearing the smile that always met with his eyes. They started off as clients to Cuppa Cappuccino Coming in and sitting at their favourite table And then the conversations started. I would interrupt them for a few minutes And chat, I liked them together. The waitresses all wanted to serve them When the call came for their lunch The kitchen knew exactly who they were. Every Christmas they would gift each Member of staff on our compound From the driver to the housekeeper. Once in a while, they would carry into the shop A big bag of clothes, shoes that the staff would share. It didn’t surprise me at all That the day Daniel passed away An ex staff’s husband wore his shirt. Even as she wept on the phone, she could see it hanging Drying out on the clothing line. I will always remember that The day Daniel passed away we received keys To his last gift for our new foundation It was a particularly beautiful day, The sky was so blue and the clouds wispy Then the WhatsApp message came in The bus went quiet, no more chatter Then there was to see a beautiful sunset It hit hard that our friend Daniel With his beautiful heart and soul As beautiful as the sunset we beheld Had left this earth and gone to glory.
Franka Maria Andoh On behalf of the Directors & Staff of Josie’s Cuppa Cappuccino Daniel Ruegg – a much loved client and friend. August 2020

He passed on Tuesday, 7th August 2020 in Switzerland. He left behind a wife and a child.
I will NEVER forget Daniel's efficiency early November 2004 , when I've been evacuated with him and family from Abidjan . These are memories that never fade away ..... In addition to his smile and kinkness .
