Daryl M. Hodnett (63) transitioned this life on August 23, 2021 at Christ Hospital. The only child of Ruby (Patton) and Walter Hodnett while living in Oakland California.

His number one concern was his family. They shared a love for elite soccer, vacations to many states throughout the county and lots of grilling. This is where Daryl’s love for cooking could shine. His most creative and memorable dishes were served at Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. He was a prankster and would send all of us pictures of things that made you smile, scared you to death because it was your phobia but mainly pictures of himself. He recently fell under the spell of Tik Tok. He loved music and could name a song in a matter of notes or words. All of his extraordinary qualities were on display in his throughout his career. Daryl was always seeking new challenges and this began during high school job at Mayors Jewelers. There he earned the name Rock. A name to which some only knew him by.

While at the jewelry store he was blessed with the opportunity to work in the mailroom at Procter &Gamble. Daryl did not let this position be the be all to end all. He began his many management positions by serving as the Media Manger North America General Advertising. Here he helped led and build the world -class supplier diversity effort for P&G. Concluding this role he retired after a 30 yr. illustrious career.

He decided that there were other “big things” to do but first spent many years as a “househusband” (to the delight of his family). He got the itch it get back in it and felt that he had more to contribute to minority inclusion. He accepted a position at the University of Missouri serving as Director -Supplier Diversity. He is credited with “reengineering the supplier diversity program.

At his passing Daryl was employed by Advocate Aurora Heath Care as the System Director- Supplier Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. He led their supplier diversity effort since 2017. In the few short years he was award 4 honors of distinction of which he was extremely proud to have received.
