On November 22, 2017, Dave Pfuetze would have celebrated his 82nd birthday.
In commemoration, we have posted a photograph of the Pfuetze family bedroom set currently on exhibit at the Wolf House Museum 630 Fremont, Manhattan, Kansas.
The family of Herman Pfuetze (Dave’s great grandfather) came to Manhattan around 1870 and lived close to what is today the Wolf House Museum. The Wolf House was built in 1868 and served as a boarding house. It is our understanding that the Pfuetze family lived in this boarding house when they first arrived in Manhattan.
The Pfuetze bedroom set probably dates from the 1880’s. We have a number of objects donated by Dave Pfuetze on exhibit at the Wolf House and at the Riley County Historical Museum.
We hope you will visit. The Wolf House is open Saturday and Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the Riley County Historical Museum, 2309 Claflin Road Manhattan, is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturday and Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Closed national holidays) Admission is free.
