Dave Ginter, a high school classmate. So Caring! He reached out across the ocean many times to check in with me to see how my husband his friend from high school was doing with his health. He took the time to write a few words that meant so much to myself and my husband. I could tell he was a very special human being. I send prayers to his family for peace and comfort.

I wandered in the Union Church of Guatemala, and when I listened to Dave Ginter, my spiritual relationship with GOD, changed forever!! I loved every word he said. He encouraged everyone to participate in fascinating discussion, (not sermons) He was a brilliant historian which encouraged everyone, because he always put God's word in the historical perspective which he mastered so well.LOL

Pastor Dave will always be remembered as a very jolly, down-to-earth, warm, affectionate, and spiritual person. He had a big heart for all people; and was a father, brother, friend, and mentor to everyone from little babies and toddlers to seniors. He loved God to the fullest and was committed to following God's call wherever that might lead him. - UCM Library Ministry

Will really forever miss Pastor Dave. He was such a real channel of God's love to me. He walked with me through very deep hurts and brought me closer to our Lord through these difficult periods. In all he did, it was so evident that he took his work as God's minister very seriously. His mentoring and care for me will always be in my heart. Thank you God for letting our paths cross.

I will always have fond memories of the road trips and the retreats we were on. He was truely one of my mentors in my youth and for that I am truely blessed. Dave truely followed the calling of the great commision.

P. Dave made such an impact on my life in such a short time. He will be greatly missed. His openness, nonjudgmental, optimism and hospitality were such a wonderful & unique combination. No question or doubt was too irreligious; he loved people where they were at and without ulterior motive. An exemplar teacher there are so many more things I would liked to have talked to him about.

Thank you for setting up this remembrance site, because there is much to remember dear Pastor Dave for. What a blessing to many people's lives and we praise the Lord for all that he did in our midst on earth. He was a man of God, and for that we thank God.

When a group of us were hurting, Pastor Dave offered his services as counsellor, preacher and friend and took on an extra burden to see us through a dark passage. We will always be grateful for that and for his warm friendship and encouragement. He was positive, humorous and focussed but above all, he was kind. Someone to look forward to seeing again in Heaven! Garry Prior

In less than a day of arriving in KL I met Dave. He was helping a new friend navigate a lost passport and credit cards. He went with her to all the offices she needed to. How giving! I have enjoyed his sermons, always hearing something from Scripture I'd missed in the passed. Now we all have something to miss- him. He is singing and dancing with Jesus.

Pastor Dave was such a down to earth person! you could talk to him about anything and everything, and he never judged, he would only counsel with love and truth. His sermons most impacted my life, every Sunday he pushed me out of my comfort zone, challenging me to live a Christ like life! And he lived such a life! Thank you Dave! I shall see you in heaven!

Dave has been my friend and role-model since the 80's. Over the years he helped me see the difference between empty religous practices and the life-giving teachings of Jesus, that there is a Creator-God who is truly good and loving. One reason I am a teacher today is to try to help teens like Dave helped me. God bless you Dave, we will see you again. To his family, a great big loving hug.

I have learnt from Pastor Dave, he had a way of explaining even the most difficult questions you had, and some difficult passages of scripture. He was always a chat, phone call, or email away all the time and would attend to your need promptly. He was such a great shepherd and I am so grateful for all he did for TBIC during his time with us. He was a great friend, pastor and counsellor.

Benefited so much from Dave's clear teaching. He really cared and showed it in ways big (one-on-one counseling) and small (replying quickly and lovingly to texts). Never forget how strongly he insisted on starting the services at Bridge on time - "Get up there behind those drums right now or else!" I am so blessed to have been pastored by Dave Ginter, a truly good and admirable man.

The word Pastor doesnt begin to describe what he did for people. I will never forget the first time he showed me this verse of 1 John chapter 5: 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
Enjoy eternal life Pastor Dave!!

Ron:

Dave was my youth pastor in the 80's, he was a selfless man that poured out his life out for others. Dave would often go without what he needed to give us anything he could. He would give to others until he had nothing left, that's the kind of man he was.

When we would walk through our most difficult and painful times, Dave was there to lift us up.

Dave and Sheryl were such an integral part of my family's life that I was deeply saddened when they left Guatemala. Now I am saddened by Dave's passing but I know he is finally resting on God's shoulder. I will always treasure the lovely memories and I will strive to be an example like he was. I learned so much from Dave. I'll miss you.

God used Pastor Dave to touch me and my family. There have been many Sundays we would get back into our vehicle and say"wow haven't never heard that scripture put that way". We consider ourselves Blessed by knowing Pastor Dave for we believe he was a man of God as well as a light used by God to share His message. May God continue to Bless Pastor Dave and his wife and the church.

David Ginter changed and rocked my spiritual world. Having been confused all my life about my religious beliefs, he helped me understand and accept the fact the it was OK to "agree to be disagreeable" and that the most important thing was to have a relationship with GOD no matter which religion you chose to follow. This world will never be the same without him. He will be deeply missed.

Dave Ginter picked me up hitch hiking when I was 19, took me to live with him in Egypt and led me to Christ at 20. He became my father, my mentor and my closest friend for 21 years. He faithfully walked with me in my life teaching me about Gods love and grace. He was the greatest man I ever met. He was a wonderful person, husband, father, pastor, and friend. I am thankful for you Dave!

My wife and I lived in Guatemala from 2007 to 2009 and we felt so blessed and lucky to hear Pastor Dave speak each week at the Union Church. He always had a fire going for the Sunday evening service and made it an intimate and special time of the week to worship together. His Biblical knowledge was vast, and we always left service feeling enriched, uplifted, and closer to God.

'Dave' Ginter was a youth leader in the 1970's at the small old  church I attended as a youth in Fairview, Oregon. He was energetic, loved God and cared deeply for the youth. My brother remembers being on the farm with him and his parents. I remember his talks - one especially on not having idols in our lives. I saw him one more time in 1980 on top of Larch Mt.  -Sylvia Heyn-Smith
