I told Mom that MEPCOM was going to have a fashion show as a part of the 1st Annual Diversity Day. The diversity committee needed people to be models…naturally I volunteered. Was Mom surprised? Of course not! I modelled a few times before so it was an easy decision to make. I knew that I could do some wardrobe changes and build a sequence. Mom and I collaborated on what I should wear first and then what to wear with each wardrobe change.
Purple FILA jumpsuit with the white high-top FILA sneakers.
Black/gold dashiki with black/gold trimmed kufi. Black slacks, burgundy Stacy Adams shoes. Elephant necklace.
White Trust short-sleeved shirt. White Steve Harvey slacks, black/white Stacy Adams ‘spectator’ shoes. “Strangely colored” silver sport coat. :D
Sky-blue ‘zoot suit’ with white short containing sparkling blue buttons. Air Force (as in USAF) pocket watch. Blue/white Stacy Adams wingtip shoes.
On the day of the show I was the only male model, and I was also the only person with wardrobe changes. In the end I had a great time and I made an impression on the audience. Was Mom surprised at the result? Of course not!
I had a good blueprint…
