Facing Your Fears

February 12, 2021
Momma was not a fan of bats or small critters in general. She hated them like I hate spiders or people getting sick. But it popped into my head this morning how, even though she was terrified, when we were little, she came with us for a trip into Woodward Cave. I barely remember it but I do remember that even though she was scared, she wanted to show us kids that we didn't need to be afraid. She came with us into the cave

My beautiful mom embodied the notion of bravery. Being scared is normal. Being scared and facing your fear anyway is bravery. She was the bravest person I know.

Deniene is one of my many cousins. Some of my earliest memories of her was at the Guyer family reunions where we always had lots of family, fun and food. Another fond memory was when we all gathered at grammy and pappy Guyer's house for lunch after church on Sundays. Don't put the food away, just cover it with a clean T-towel because there will be more family coming to visit. There were so many of us that we would eat in shifts. I remember thinking how beautiful Deniene and her sisters were with their long hair. And then life happens and we grow up and get married.  Deniene and Todd's wedding was the most beautiful and unique wedding I have ever been to as Todd sang to her on her walk down the aisle. No dry eyes in the church.  And then come the babies.  I remember going to my mom and dad's house to see Deniene and meet her Jade.  What a proud momma she was.  As time went on, we enjoyed getting together for probably about every home party there ever was. Two things that Deniene and I have in common are our love for our babies and Bling! She's always been such a beautiful, colorful, loving person and she will be greatly missed. Until we meet again, cous. Love you!

I remember when I lived on the farm with my family and Deniene would drive Theo so he could work. She would come in and Deniene, mom, and I would sit at the table in the morning and have tea and share our life stories. She also was the one who showed me how to do my nails. She was so caring and such a sweet heart. She will be missed by many dearly...

Amazing

I met Deniene when I worked at TJ Maxx. She was one of the first to make me feel welcomed. We spent lots of time chit chatting about style, fashion, and family. She truly was the most sincere, authentic, sweetest soul I have ever encountered. We maintained a friendship outside of work, and I truly enjoyed our friendship. I am deeply saddened by the loss of one of the best people I’ve ever had the honor of knowing. She sent me the sweetest letter a few weeks back - that I will always treasure. My heart goes out to her family.
