The Wind Beneath Our Wings

October 1, 2013

Diane Mary Creegan O'Sullivan who passed into Heaven's welcoming arms on January 21st, 2013, was born on July 26th, 1953 to Katherine and Mathew P Creegan. Loving daughter and sister to brother, Kevin Creegan, who also passed into God's loving care in April of 2013, Diane was a kindred spirit with a love for animals and nature. Niece to John and Josephine Duffy, and Rosemary and Bill Granger, Diane was surrounded by many cousins and enjoyed family get togethers as a young child growing up in the Bronx, NY. She was a sentimental girl who dreamed big and had an even bigger heart. She attended Cathedral High School where she met best friend, Wilma Gregg and her high school sweetheart Peter, whom she later married.

Diane and Peter, welcomed their first born daughter, Melissa whom she loved very much. Diane was a beautiful, caring, attentive, loving dedicated mother and wife who was also hard-working, generous, supportive, nurturing, and kind-hearted.

In the 1980's, She began working for Jacqueline Cochran under the guidance of her great mentor and friend, Sheila Kennedy. She enjoyed working there for many years and quickly advanced in the areas of accounting while meeting lifelong friends, Deborah Lehrer and Pam Zafrian. In April of 1984, she celebrated the birth of her first nephew, Justin Creegan, with her loving brother, Kevin Creegan and his beautiful wife, Marguerite.  She was a sweet aunt, who enjoyed spoiling young Justin who was a quick playmate for her daughter, Melissa.

Diane accepted a position with Liz Claiborne Cosmetics and rose to the position of Sales and Marketing Director under the arm of lifelong mentor and friend, Janet Howard while raising a loving daughter as a single parent before meeting her second husband, Michael O'Sullivan. She enjoyed marriage and her family and was happily married for many years. Together they enjoyed travel and raising a loving household full of adored pets that included love birds, parakeets, exotic parrots, cats, dogs, and many others along the years with Diane's daughter, Melissa always on hand to add a rabbit or goldfish to the long list of pets.

In the early 90's, she was awarded an upper level position with Essie Cosmetics after being entered into the Who's Who's of Business in the area of sales.  At Essie, she successfully launched their fall and spring lines as their Project Manager before accepted a position with Mana Products where she worked happily as a Credit and Collections Manager for many years.

In 2003, she celebrated the marriage of her daughter, Melissa to Justin Thomas Scire and welcomed a loving son-in-law into her life. The marriage of her child was a particularity bright spot in her life especially after living with the hurt of loosing her loving parents, Katherine and Mathew for several years. She now  enjoyed a happy new family dynamic and enjoyed getting together with Melissa, Justin and Justin's parents, Ann and Jim Scire to celebrate many happy occasions including her 50th birthday which she shared in common with Justin's mother, Ann. Justin quickly became the son, Diane never had and she enjoyed spending all her available free time with her daughter and son-in-law particularly in the summer months where they enjoyed many family trips to the beach,  which was always Diane's favorite place to be.

In 2005, Diane received the happy news that she was to become a first time grandmother. Delighted in the happy news, Diane made the decision to move to Orlando, Florida with her daughter and son-in-law, Justin, who had accepted positions in the area.  Diane, helped to welcome a beautiful granddaughter Ashley Isabella in June of 2006 and was elated to be in the delivery room to see her grandchild at first glance. Showering Ashley and her daughter and son in law with love and support, Diane was a watchful, loving, devoted grandmother.  Her new life chapter in Florida marked some of the happiest times in Diane's life. She enjoyed the beaches, travel with her family, and being close to nature in the warm Florida sun and spent every available opportunity with Melissa, Justin and Ashley.

In 2006, Diane accepted a position with Siemens Building Technology as a Credit and Collections Manager, where she met good friend, Sue Sillamon and later enjoyed a girls getaway cruise to Cozumel together. Cruising became a fun experience for Diane who then celebrated her daughter's 30th birthday in 2008 with a second cruise in the company of daughter,  her son-in-law, and grandchild.

Diabetes began to reek havoc on Diane's ability to see well and drastically decreased her quality of life due to excessive medications and health complications but despite these factors, Diane always tried to make the best of things and make every day count in her life particularly when it came to enjoying time with her growing grandchild whom she adored. Trips to Disney, and the beaches of Florida with her daughter and her family became some of the happiest memories she would have. She spent every holiday and special occasion by their side and spent every weekend exploring a fun new Florida attraction she had yet to see.

In 2010, Diane and her second husband, Michael parted ways and however she was happy to spend her days doting over her loving dogs, Chloe and Dolly and her beautiful parrots Bruce, Samantha, and Gypsy, whom they raised together.

In 2012, Diane retired from Siemens and enjoyed some much needed rest and relaxation; living out the last year of her life in peace and serenity before her untimely passing in January of 2013.

She will forever be remembered for her loving ways, wonderful sense of humor, great fondness of animals, caring demeanor and vibrant personality. She will be forever missed by her surviving family which includes her daughter, Melissa, granddaughter, Ashley, son-in-law, Justin, brother, Kevin, nephew, Justin Creegan, and Aunt Rosemary. She was joined with her parents, Katherine and Mathew, and Uncles, Bill and John, along with all the angels in Heaven on January 21st, 2013.

She was cremated after a private memorial service at A Community Funeral Home in Orlando, FL on February 21st, 2013.
