It is hard to believe that 9 quick years has passed since my oldest brother has passed. Think about him often and all the family, as my age is starting to catch up to where is was. In fact all his siblings are reaching those high years. But can't help recalling some those interesting conversations we use to have about life and the Navy. Especially some of our genealogy discussions where we actually came from. Our heritage, something I never really thought much about until my latter years. But I go back to when Imelda first came to the United States, wow it was one cold winter in Nebraska, but she was tough and hung in there, helping our mom with many chores. They both were such a blessing to me in my growth as a young man and that led to a wonderful career in the United States Navy. Miss you bro...but will see you in the heavenly realm, once again celebrating with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Love and miss you

Thinking of you this day…. It’s so hard to believe that it has been 9 years since both you and Mom went to be with our Lord. Posted a Navy Picture for those that visit. I am grateful that you were my Dad! Thank you for all you did! I miss our talks on my drive home, looking forward to many more long talks in Heaven! Love, K

Thinking of you and mom this Christmas! We are about to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
I know how much you loved this Holiday. We will have both boys home and my Daughter in Law. I understand now what it must have felt like for you (as a father) to have the whole family together. Remembering some of our past Christmas memories and thinking of you…..Love you!

Thinking about you today.  Time passes quickly, but memories last forever. I love going through the tributes and seeing different things about you that I never was privy to or had the opportunity to experience as others have. It is gratifying to see those beautiful memories others have shared also. Miss you and some of those memorable talks we use to have. Especially those knowing where we came from. Love yah, your little brother.

Think of you often, remembering all the times and weekends spent in La Habra with you and Imelda. Remember the times wearing my Uniform to go to Palmdale with you and seeing some interesting planes and parts to those planes. The Navy was good to both of us, helping you become a gifted engineer and myself as a career naval veteran. Love and miss you both.

Grandpa,

Missing you on this day and have been thinking about some of the great moments we shared...from making puzzles, playing board games, and watching movies to you watching me play basketball. I know you are watching over me. Thank you for raising such a great son who I now get to call dad. I love and miss you!

Remembering my brother on this date...think of you often and the influence that you had in my life at my young age. Many say we look alike in some respects, but I think only in the hair lines. Happy Birthday and you left a great legacy. Loved you very much.

Remembering you on this day, Happy Birthday Dad! I know you and Mom are together with the Father in Heaven. It has been a challenging year with ups and downs. Gina has fought hard with Cancer. She misses your daily talks and words of encouragement. She reminds me often what a positive influence you were for her during her fight with chronic illness and now Cancer. Thanks for that Dad!
I know you are watching and encouraging us still....Love and miss you!

I always looked forward to meeting Dick & Imelda whenever they visited Malta. Such an interesting person to talk to and also had my dry sense of humour. A story I always remember him telling me was how when testing rays in the desert somewhere in Nevada or Arizona, how theu used to zap vultures in the sky in the 1950's. A great guy. RIP Dick

First, I would like to thank all those that have entered their memories of my brother. I have in fact learned many additional interests from all the posts in his forever memorial. Although, many years separated us as siblings, we shared some precious times in later years and they were my weekend escapes when first joining the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA prior to being sent to Vietnam for a 21 month tour of duty. One of the final get togethers for the Unger clan, took place in Las Vegas and all but one of us were there. It was a great reunion and a great memory of our growing up in Nebraska on the Farm. Thanks Leslie for your heartfelt share....some these tributes I didn't know about. Blessings to you and all that are his family and friends. It would have been another great birthday, but not as celebrated as both of them are celebrating, walking the streets of Gold and Praising the Lord Jesus.

Dear Kraig & Family,

Dick & Imelda were great neighbors for 13 years. They always watched out for us as we did for them. We miss both of them very much. We are glad they are together again.

Dear Kraig,

We were sorry to learn of your father's passing but are thankful to be notified.

We can't but think how fortunate Dick was to have lived so long after his dire prostate diagnosis so many years ago. He was certainly strong willed and showed his determination by living a long, full life. That was a blessing.

With sympathy,

Dear Kraig,

This morning, Brent forwarded the news of Dick’s passing. I was instantly sad.

Now that I have allowed myself some time to think about and remember the past - I am more sad.

Dick was a very good person. Sincerely, he is one of the best people I have ever known and I am pleased that our paths crossed.
Next to my own father, Dick was the only other man that I saw as a great and caring father.

I am very sorry for your loss. Please express my condolences to Imelda and hug her for me.

Dear Kraig, Gina and Imelda,

It is with deep regret that we learn of Dick’s passing away on the 21st instant.

He will certainly be remembered and sorely missed by all who knew him as he was a fine example of the perfect gentleman, always ready with a smile and a kind word for every occasion.

Please accept our deepest sympathies.  May you find comfort in knowing that he was a good Christian and is no doubt at peace with his Creator.
He will surely be joining us in our prayers for those of you whom he left behind so that you will find the necessary peace to adjust for this great loss.

Love to yourself, Gina, Kids and Imelda from us all.

Grandpa,

I love you and miss you more than words can describe. I thank you for the impact that you made in my life, the encouragement that you gave to me, the laughs we shared, and the smiles that you put on my face. Your wisdom continues to amaze me and I have peace in knowing that you are surrounded by the love of Christ. The best part of all, you will have the best seats in the house to all of my basketball games! I love you Grandpa.

Love,
Ethan

Dick A Unger
A faithful servant, man to the Word of God.

Converted to Catholicism when he married into the Gatt Family, when he was courting my sister Imelda Gatt while visiting Malta St Pauls island [Acts:28] during his military posting in Tripoli Libya North Africa, he wanted to visit the Maltese Islands part of his studies Bible History.

Dick Imelda and I used to spend hours on the net discussing family affairs and Gods love for us.
Summa. Confessions, and other leading Catholic Saints and the Blessed Virgin the Mother of God and Our Saviour would take most of our loving time sharing how we got thru terrible moments.

Dick was transferred to Safi Airbase Malta he started his research going round the Island gathering data, his favourite pass-time.

Now this you can ask Imelda, although Imelda was telling this story to her siblings, I enjoyed the story..
Imelda was having a drink with some friends (probably cousin Bice) at the Café Premier in Pjazza Regina Valletta, when she caught sight of this young handsome man, he tried to talk to her, she pretended to ignore him, got off the table and walk away, to see if he will follow, but making sure to take the wrong turn that gets her face to face with her future husband. Imelda like the rest of the family Pray to Our Blessed Mother for God’s will be done,
Imelda kept her marriage vows to the end.

Many times the Gatt family got together from Australia, U K and Malta and had a holy good time, getting used to the Maltese way, Dick was really part of the Gatt Family, good Catholic, he will be cherished in our hearts.

Mr Morat and family [cannot remember the wife’s name, nice people] from Lebanon where good friends in fact Dick helped type a book about God for Morat for printing.
Morat rented from the Ungers. During one of my visits to Newhall Ca. Morat pass away, attended Mass and funeral of Morat with Dick and Imelda, I could understand their Mass in Arabic some words as Maltese.

Dick was in tears they were so close I could tell.
They are now both enjoying Heaven together.

I have pain in my heart as I recall these events impromptu.

In Jesus, Mary and the Holy Spirit.

Grandpa,

I already miss you! Thank you for the legacy you left and how it has touched my life. I'll rememer your stories, your chuckles, your lessons, your sweet tooth, your generosity, and your care. These were special and I've tried to make them a part of my life (except for the sweet tooth haha). Your impact can't be even be measured, but I know that my life wouldn't be the same if you hadn't been a part of it.

Love,
JC

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of our dear friend Dick. We met
in Valencia, CA in the 1970s and have kept in touch since then. We have such fond memories of the time spent with him and Imelda at
dances and other events at OLPH. One of our very special times spent
with him and Imelda was on a cruise to Alaska. The last time we saw him was when we visited their home in Indio and spent the night there.
He will be remembered in our thoughts and prayers along with his
special wife Imelda and son Kraig.

I will always remember his coming home from military service in the U.S. Navy with his beautiful bride Imelda to our farm near Curtis, Nebraska...with it being in the cold winter....bringing a Yankee's basedball outfit for me. This outfit, still in my possession, has brought back many memories over the years. We love and will miss you...but you are in His loving arms now.
