A very intelligent man with a quick dry wit. I can not believe it has been 7 years and yet it feels like so many more. Still miss you, guy.

I was just talking about Dick the other day. I told someone the joke I told at his funeral. It brought back fond memories of some of the special times we shared ...some times at Kelli's expense. We had some fun times. To Dick..never forgotten.

Wow! 6 years now Dick, hard to believe. Still seems like yesterday when you'd call out "Next" at work in anticipation of helping the next in line. Many memories come to mind today my friend, family, friends, good times, bad times, at this point you would say "you know I had my share" and we would have a good laugh. Peace to you.

Can't believe that it's already been 5 years. I miss you everyday. We "talk" all the time and I know you are still here because you live in my heart and I know you're watching over me and the kids. I know a lot you're scratching your head going WTF are you doing. Remember you raised me to be the strong woman that I am, even tho I do fall from time to time. Love you Daddy ❤

A very special and wonderful gentleman Mr. Curtiss, where has the time gone and it feels like yesterday that I can still here your voice and that laugh that I can never forget.  You’re truly missed and not a day goes by that I walk into work and not think of you. Time passes but memories are forever.
To Melissa and family, I’m keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Continue to love , live and laugh, and enjoy life.

Another year has passed us by without your presence, which by the way I told you a lot, was pretty cool. We shared a lot you and me, both at work and at home, I cherish those memories and oftentimes find myself saying "next".

As though it were yesterday, I can still see Dick sitting at the end of our dinner table in Markham eating "Chewy bars" right out of the pan and cracking us up with his jokes. We'd all be listening to good old 60's music on the stereo. I play 60"s on 6 on my car radio and think of Dick frequently when a certain song plays. Miss you and wish you were still here. Cathy

Hey Dick, been thinking about you lately. For the countless times I heard you say, "goin' fire up the weber tonite" I never really got it until recently. I am now the proud owner of 3 weber grills - a 22' smoker, a 22" kettle, and an 18 jumbo joe. Now I get ! I knew you would want to know. You're welcome, and you betcha !

Happy Thanksgiving Daddy. This one is going to be a tough one. It's my first one without you here. I'm sure that you prepped the stuffing last night and your getting the bird ready for the grill. I know that Grandma is there with you tasting everything to make sure it's just right. I hear the teasing and laughing between you two when I close my eyes. When I watch the parade today I know you'll be watching with me. I Love You and miss you always.

Thank you all for the outpouring of support via this site, calls and cards from all over the world! His classmates have shared some great stories too which I will try to bring on to this site.
Work kept me busy with CLEW updates and what do you know? The message (from Dick) was all just zeros and ones.

Kelli - I am so sorry for your loss.

I worked with Dick for 16 or so years. Some would say that Dick and I were not close. That would have been true up until 2010. We worked together but didn't really share much.

I'm not sure what prompted the change but I definitely relate to all the memories shared here. The infamous grin, ta da!, and a love of fun and morning coffee. He shared his enthusiasm for his family history and his letter to his mother with me, and his work in the military in Supply, his love for programming and improvements to work processes that generated from it. We talked about family, some of our coworkers who had passed and plans and hopes for the future of IT in VA. We shared a bit of geography in that my family was from the Dakota's and his from Minnesota. The Olee and Lena jokes and Ya Ya comments were always present and welcome.

No one was prouder than he was the day he had his 40 year picture taken with his daughter and grandchild. He'd talk of his daughter's wedding and the babies antics.

His passion for protecting his staff and keeping the future in mind were ever present in his actions. He could get angry when threats to productive and efficient things occurred. I was so glad when he told me of his getting married. I wanted to be there and am even more sorry now I was not.

I cannot believe he's gone to be honest. He should have had more time, years in fact. I will miss him. May God hold him now.

I first met Dick when we were just young kids. My fondest memories of him were when he'd come out to "the farm" in Markham (MN) to visit or to go deer hunting with the guys. Yes, his smile was contagious and his stories were hilarious. He would have my Mom doubled over with laughter many a time. Thanks for the wonderful pictures Kelli. Rest in Peace Dick.

The Broken Chain
By: Ron Tranmer

We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

Vanessa and I are sorry for your loss and have your family our thoughts and prayers. We enjoyed all of the stories and pictures posted. For the decades I knew him, Dick inspired all with his personality plus and work ethic. I will never forget walking into a meeting full of sharks seeing Dick there and knowing he had my 6, whatever the consequences; I learned so much about life from that. I'm honored to have known and worked for a man with such endless qualities. Dick's spirit lives on in all the lives he touched. We missed him after he retired and even more so now!

Our condolences to the family at this sad time. Joe and I were so sorry to hear about Dick's passing. We hope that the love of family and friends will comfort and strengthen you in the days ahead. Dick was one of a kind. His family, friends and his job were very important to him. We were always a bit jealous of ALL the times he just up and went to Universal Studios. ( we all continue to have the kid in us that doesn't go away...and for good reason) Live Life to the Fullest!

Where do I start…??  Dick was many things to me – truly one of a kind and one of the most multi-faceted people I’ve ever known. As others have written, he always had a story to tell, and the details were important to him because he wanted you to have an “experience” as if you were there too. I was fortunate to hear dozens of those stories over the decades I knew him. I also know he loved his family, veterans, and pretty much anything Minnesota or Hard Rock Café related. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time. So long 1942, and rock on !!

What I remember about Dick is this. There was a bowling alley in Virginia, MN -- don't remember the name cuz I'm OLDER... This bowling alley did not have automatic pin setters. They had THE BOYS, like Dick Curtis, who would be at the end of the alley, hand setting the pins after every throw. I still, to this day, tell the younger folks about how we used to bowl in Virginia. He was one great guy.

Wonderful pictures, thank you for sharing. I only knew Dick for a short time (2000-2009) but he definitely left an impression. Short story, went for a walk one day, when I came home there was liver and onions on my kitchen table! Compliments of Dick. He could seriously cook up some liver and onions!!! God bless his family and friends during this time of loss.

He'll truly be missed and I'm keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers. A great blessing to us all, May God continue to bless you on your journey home and thanks for the time he allowed you to share with us.
