Dear Aunt Leona and cousins Donna, Susan, James, and Charles:

I am so sad to learn of Uncle Don’s passing. I have many fond memories of our years growing up together. Unfortunately, as we got older and our families became more segmented after the passing of Grandma and Grandpa Barber, we did not get to see much of each other. I always enjoyed getting Aunt Leona’s holiday letter updating me on all of you and your families. Her last letter saddened me to learn that she and Uncle Don had moved to an assisted living facility. To Aunt Leona, I extend my sincerest condolence on behalf of my family on the passing of Uncle Don. To my cousins Donna, Susan, James, and Charles; I share your feeling of loss (having lost both of my parents in recent years) and know how difficult it can be to see one another as each of us get older and our families grow, eventually leaving each of us to be the head of our own families, without the binding presence of our parents. I wish each of you and your families all of the best life has to give.

My parents had such a good time with Don and Leona in Rockport. Walker and Oletha could alway count on learning a new game, their favorite was probably "7" which we had many a good family time playing that game.

Our best to you Leona, praying for your and your family's peace.

I didn''t know Don was a drum major. So was my husband. I think of Don and see him sitting in the chair my parents gave him to use in the garage. We'd wave at each other when I was working in the Shouse yard."I know how much my parents thought of both Don and Leona.
I love you,Leona and miss getting to see you and talk to you.
You were a dear friend to O.C. and Iris and you became a dear friend to me while
I was there taking care of them.Thank you guys for letting me know about this.

We were very sad to learn of Dons passing. Have many wonderful memories of visits to Don & Leonas home and their visits to our home in KS. Going sailing years ago. Jerry & Don could talk forever while Leona & I had discussions about our family genealogy. Janet & Jerry Simpson
