Prayers and Condolences from my family to the Williams family. Dottie lived a long vibrant life. My memories are fond of Dottie whom I've had the pleasure of knowing all of my life. The memories of our Moms and the Poinsettia bridge club for over 30 years, family picnics summers, and. Saturday family visits to each other's homes were awesome. Dottie and Mary always talked on the phone, they kept in touch until her transition, I occasionally had an opportunity to say hello to her. Dottie was a beautiful lady inside and out, her smile was amazing. May she Rest In Heaven! Love You.❤

Mrs. Williams was my 2nd grade teacher in 1967/68. I absolutely adored her. She had a significant impact on my desire to learn and was such a positive role model. I moved from Detroit after 8th grade, but we kept in touch while I was in high school and college. She sent me a sweet note and graduation gift. She was one of the best and I am truly blessed to have had her in my life. May she rest in heaven.

When someone you love becomes a memory the memory becomes a treasure. Your mother was loved with a love beyond telling, and is missed with a grief beyond all tears.
My heartfelt sympathy.

While growing up,going to Dotty's was the highlight of many Sunday's,after church visits with my mother and especially when staying with her for a week or so in the summers. My energetic, fashionesta godmother (who would fix a scrumptious breakfast), my three beautiful god-sisters and that big house on   Collingwood Street assured fun and laughter from the basement to the third floor!

Dotty lived life to the fullest. She loved the Lord, her family, fashion, good food and traveling. She also eagerly learned the technology needed to communicate in our world today. I loved Dotty,s conversations, her energy, intuition and no nonsense way of telling it like it is!

Remember
She will always be here
As long as you hold her
In your memory
She is that one star
That keeps shining so brightly
And is the last light
That fades into the morning sun
She's with you
Whenever you tell
The stories
Of places she's been
And all she's done.

(This is a paraphrase from a favorite song of mine by Josh Groban)

Rest in peace dear Godmother - I will never forget you. Love, Terri

Your mother/grandmother was my 2nd grade teacher at Vetal Elementary and she is forever in my memory. I remember the bright smile in your photos, but she could be a disiplinarian when needed. I was daydreaming (for the umpteenth time) and she had me sit under her desk. This made an immense impression on me-still vivid almost 50 years later. I loved her anyway. She was a wonderful teacher. God bless your family during this sad time.

Ann, Marcia, Dru, David, Jonathan and Claire while I am not saying anything that you all don't already know, Dorothy was a wise, loving person who I had the good fortune to know. She was there to comfort and offer guidance and good words of advice in times of difficulty and I and my children will be forever grateful. How lucky we were to be in her orbit!!!! My love to all of you as I know she will be greatly missed.

Dottie was an absolutely wonderful woman full of so much class and wisdom. I can't think about her without smiling. She featured heavily in the stories my grandmother told about when she and my grandfather first moved to Detroit.

I remember her telling me they moved from Boston and did not have any family but became wonderful friends with Dottie, her sister Nina, and her brother and sister-in-law JB and Hildreth. They shared a flat with Dottie and Nina.

Dottie was my mother's godmother. My grandmother made that choice because of the extreme kindness that was shown to her after her first child was stillborn. In the period after it happened Dottie would come and check on her daily once she had someone to watch her oldest daughter Ann. My grandmother appreciated her being considerate to how much she wanted a baby.

Growing up one of my FAVORITE things to do at Christmas was to go visit the Williams family at Dottie's big beautiful house. She was always so loving and encouraging towards me. I loved seeing Ann, Marsha, and Drue. The sleepovers I would have with Jonathon and Claire were the best.

Please give my grandmother a hug and kiss from me and tell my grandfather I look forward to meeting him.

Thank You Ann,Marcia,Dru,David,Jonathan and Claire for sharing your mom with us.she was the tie that bound are family together. Thanks for including us all the surprise visits, the picnics, the birthdays, the shopping trips, the races home from church to meet at my moms or yours for breakfast, the Friday bridge parties where we learned how to dance, the camping trips, and of course the xmas dinners. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to experience the continual love she never hesitated to give even in our saddest moments. For holding our hand, and our ears as she told us stories about her life growing up. For giving us tips on how to deal with the perils of life's challenges even when we thought we knew better. Most of all thank you for sharing her unconditional love as she taught us the importance of family. She was trluly a phenomenal woman who will be in the hearts of everyone who crossed her path.

I would like to light a candle and share a message in memory of your mother, Dorothy Williams, a beautiful soul:

                  IN MEMORY OF MOTHER

"I remember thee in this solemn hour, my dear mother. I remember the days when thou didst dwell on earth, and thy tender love watched over me like a guardian angel. Thou hast gone from me, but the bond which unites our souls can never be severed; thine image lives within my heart.
"May the merciful Father reward thee for the faithfulness and kindness thou hast ever shown me; may He lift up the light of His countenance upon thee and grant thee eternal peace! Amen."

All Hail the Queen:

I’d like to lay a flower for my Aunt Dottie, the Queen. How else can you describe a woman who held us all accountable? She was a teller of truth. My Aunt Dottie, the Queen, could make your crooked straight with just a look. At the same time, she could wow you with her generous heart and warm smile.
I’ll always be thankful for the time we lived in Oak Park together. It gave us the opportunity for frequent Sunday brunches and trips to the movies. There were even a few rare occasions where she convinced me to go with her to church. She baited me by saying I can wear anything because God accepts me as I am. I later decided that her amazing connection with God had to be fueled by the fact that we all wore casual clothes and jeans to church, while she showed up with freshly manicured nails, a killer outfit and coordinating jewelry.
My Aunt Dottie, the Queen, shared my birthday. I always thought it meant we had a special bond. I later learned, THAT is what made her so special. She had a way of making us all feel like her favorite. All Hail the Queen! Welcome home. We’ll miss you, but will see you soon! Tell my Grandma I said hello.

Love Leslie

Aunt Dot, we only met the one time at Aunt Eggies house but it was truly an honor to hug and kiss you that time. I was amazed when hearing your age and saying to myself that you were truly blessed in your life. To your family, look to the heavens and remember the good times with a truly wonderful person and know that Aunt Dot is looking over you all especially the children. I know the pain of losing a mom and it takes time to heal but when you get down, remember that beautiful smile and know that mom only wants the best. Rest in eternal peace Aunt Dot.
