Doug, I think of you every day. There is always something that happens or that I see or hear that reminds me of things you said, did or felt..............or makes me wonder what you would think, do or say if you were still here. I still celebrate your life and philosophies by living up to them, spreading them and expanding on them. My credo, "Have a good time, all the time," is hard to live up to. I hope you are still experiencing the sentiment of this credo, even from your latest vantage point, outside our Earthly realm.

Your loving brother,
Ephram Ronbert the Zimbalist Humperdinkel

Over the past four years, something occurs everyday that triggers fond memories of my best friend. It never would have occurred to him how much everyone would miss him. We often joked with each other that we wanted to pass on together because we both knew how much it would suck without the other. And it does, but his jovial outlook on life and the many memories we shared, brings lots of comfort. I can imagine him singing along.......and smile.

“When you’re chewing on life’s gristle,
Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this will help things turn out for the best
And....always look on the bright side of life....
Always look on the bright side of life.”

Life takes some way to early. They always say the good die young and I know that was true of Doug. He went way to early for all of us. He had a truly good soul and a big heart.

We thought of you today
But that is nothing new
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that too

We think of you in silence
We often speak your name
All we have are memories
And a picture in a frame

Your memory's a keepsake
From which we'll never part
God has you in his arms.......
We have you in our hearts

Hi Doug,
Diann and I went out and celebrated for you on the evening of 21 May 2014. We had a great time and reminissed about all the great times we had together and all the fun things you were able to do in your life. Haven't been on my computer all week, so just now catching up on the posts. Hard to believe it's been three years and still miss you like it was yesterday. As a co-founding member of the Church of Doug and a long-standing Elderman, I have taken the liberty/authority to add two holidays to the 4 supreme holy days (the two equinoxes and the two solstices). The 5th Supreme Holy Day shall be celebrated as such on May 21 every year and the 6th Supreme Holy Day, shall be celebrated as much on 29 July (just picked those days at random :>)
See you someday on the other side. All my love, your little brother, Ephram Zymbalburt, Jr.

We miss Doug a lot also and can't believe three years have gone by. In spite of the lingering sadness, this site never fails to elicit a smile when I look at the photos. He left some great memories and certainly a big footprint on all our lives.

Here we are at the 3rd anniversary of Doug's passing on 5/21.
5/21 when added together equals 8 and turned on it's side is the sign of infinity. May our memories together live on forever.
Love & miss you forever & ever..

Miss you more than ever Bro-bert :>) Went down to the Ponce Inlet Light House yesterday with Summer, Savannah and Ellen/Mom/Oma. We threw some flowers into the water at the pier where we tossed in the ashes. Ate a dozen oysters and drank 2 beers in Doug's honor. Need to download the pictures now. Thinking about Doug all the time and still can't believe he's gone :>(

Continue to think of you everyday and will always miss you ...from giving your opinion on which earrings I should wear to your hugs and kisses. Ironically, Dave Matthews Band was to play in Austin tonight. I know you're at peace and enjoying your after life just like you loved your life here. Wait for me....can't wait to laugh with you again. Love you forever!

It's been a little over a year. I still just can't believe it, that Doug is not with us here any longer. I miss his political emails, our humorous phone convesations and especially our visits and travels together. His spirit lives on in our hearts and his memory makes me glad to have known him and shared so many good times. Rock on, bro', you're still my favorite brother, EVER!

I would like to thank everyone for their participation (in person and in spirit) in Doug's memorial celebration event on 9 Oct 2011. Although bad weather caused the boat ride out in to the Atlantic to be cancelled, we were able to give Doug's ashes to the sea via Ponce Inlet.

It was great seeing friends and family together on 10/9/11. Many I had not seen since Doug and Geri's wedding (1991), others almost as long; all too infrequently. The party reminded me how charming and entertaining Doug and all our friends are. Wish it could have lasted longer!!!

Knowing Doug was such a fine way to cap off the 80s and start the 90s. His smile brightened Houston summer days. His laughter- more refreshing than a round at the Ale House. Sad that our paths diverged. Catch ya later! John & Gwen

Doug was certainly a fun guy to be with; intellectual conversation, broad musical and video entertainment tastes, enjoyment of good food and drink from all around the world, scuba/snorkeling/beach/skiing enthusiast, and all-around great guy!

Doug shared my credo, "Have a good time, all of the time" (and did a good job living up to it).
He also lived up to the old show-business credo, "Give the people what they want, but always leave them wanting more." Rock on!
