On this day I wanted to take time to remember a brother not by blood but through shared moments in life. The memories you gave me will never be forgotten, you were truly one of a kind and I will always cherish those moments we shared.

Dear Abayomi, You were my first teacher in Chinese Medicine over 30 years ago. I have thought about you over the years and wondered how you were. You were a magnificient human being and I always lit up when you came into the room. I still remember so manny things you taught us. Dry brush up with the yin meridians and down with the yang meridians. I did that for many years. Thank you for being the wonderful, gentle teacher you were. Lena Rothman

Yomi, you taught me Tai Chi in Brooklyn in 1988-89 when I was 23, up until you set out for Colorado to make your outstanding life. Now, over 30 years later, your wisdom, focus, and example still inspire me. You have left behind many communities who miss you. My belated condolences to your family. Pearl, my thoughts are with you.

I remember it being ~1972 when Stephen and I met. We lived around the corner from each other, and grew up together amongst a group of friends on Montgomery St., Brooklyn, NY. Among the years I grew fond of the Meeks family and forever that shall remain... With so many years shared with Stephen and family, I have been blessed to be a "sister" to Keith and Dwayne, a "daughter" to my other mother Pearl, and a dear friend in life with Stephen. There are no words I can express for the loss of Stephen, but God knows best and to know him was to love him.... He was witty, had a great sense of humor, humble, and a accomplished man. A warrior, a father, a teacher, a help mate to those he didn't even know, and so much more...

I thank God for blessing us to have known each other for 40+ years! Stephen will be forever missed and remembered by me, and many others because of who he was, and how he lived his life. A legacy of a job well done on earth caring for mankind, and service to others that will live on forever.....

Please join me in prayer for the Meeks family.

Rest In Peace My Dear Friend,
Dr. Stephen Abayomi Meeks

My Dear Yomi,
The very last day we talked, I forgot to say Thank You. Thank you, for the lessons you taught! Thank you for being an amazing man and an amazing nephew! I truly miss you and our long talks we used to have. I wish Heaven took phones calls and had visiting hours; lord knows I’d be the first one calling! You are missed more than you could ever imagine. You will be in my heart forever! I will always love you!!!

Yomi a true King, Leader and Warrior of our family and his community. My heart stopped when I learned that my beautiful cousin had departed from this place called earth. I thank you for all the conversations and love that you shared. And though I cry, I’m able to smile through my tears in knowing you have taken your seat next to our almighty God and I am comforted in knowing you have reached the pinnacle in life - impacting lives. My beautiful cousin who exuded beauty all over, I thank you for the colorful memories you edged in my heart and my memory. And, knowing you, I know that you will continue from the heavens above guide us all in navigating life.  Rest In Peace my Hero, cousin, big brother and friend. You are forever missed. I will always love you

My dear brother from another mother, I am so happy for your freedom. At the same time I am deeply saddened by your passing and send my heartfelt condolences to your mother, family, friends and godparents. I barely knew you. Yet our conversations were intense, honest, insightful, compassionate, caring and filled with love. Only now do I get to know the depth of your accomplishments by the grace of this website. Thank you for being my brother from another mother, one of my personal heroes and powerful inspiration for my life. Thank you for helping me to focus on my life’s purpose and to not take time or life for granted.

On behalf of my family and myself, I want to extend our heartfelt condolences to family of Brother Meeks. My personal memory of Brother Meeks is that from a young age he was well focused, highly driven & self motivated. He was extremely protective of his family and anyone he allowed in his inner circle.
He had enormous respect for others while at the same time demanding it for himself. I am deeply saddened upon hearing of his transition. I know that his impact on others will allow his legacy to continue.
May his soul forever Rest In Peace.

My condolences pours out to his loving family and extended family. Dr. Meeks was able to accomplish more for his people at such a young age, than many in several life times. As a Yoruba Priest he was well grounded in his spiritual life. Let's celebrate and be grateful for his life in this incarnation and look forward to his return in the next. Ase'
