TRIBUTE TO DEACON OLADEJO OLAWALE
AN ELDER AT THE GATE
PROVERB 31: 23, “Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land”
I met Daddy Oladejo Olawale in 2006 when I resumed to The Redeemed Christian Church of God Livingstone Assembly as the Area Pastor. At that time the parish was having issues with the Landlord of the property the parish was occupying for worship. Dcn. Oladejo and another elder in the parish approached the landlord themselves and resolved the issue to the favour of the church. This singular and honorable action saved the church from embarrassment and endeared me to this family. “Agba o kin wa loja, kori omo tuntun wo”. Yoruba Proverb
Deacon Oladejo Olawale was a devoted worshiper with his family. He was the minister In charge of Believers’ class at the time we resumed to the parish. As the minister In charge, he participated actively in vigils with students in preparation of their baptism and always followed them to the river on the day of baptism.
He was also the minister In charge of intending to wed (couples preparing for marriage). He was active in those ministries until when he was above 75 years we had to advise him to relinquish the posts.
As member of the elders’ fellowship, he was active in the Parish, Area, Zone and Province level.
Digging Deep teachings by Dcn. Oladejo Olawale were always participatory, experience filled and the congregation look forward to it.
His house is one of our House Fellowship centres and well attended (even by non-redeem members)
Daddy Oladejo Olawale was an elder indeed and in truth.
Every Christmas season, Daddy Oladejo Olawale in company of one of his sons will visit my family with well-bred turkey, wine and other gifts.
Matthew 25: 21, “His Lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant, thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord”
Certainly, this is our wish for Dr. Oladejo Olawale. Rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord till resurrection morning.
