Dr. Robert G. Smith

Ninety-three.

Born: Wednesday, November 2, Nineteen Twenty-one.

Died: Wednesday, March 18 Two Thousand Fifteen.

Born in Perry, NY.

Graduated as an Eagle Scout Perry High school, University of Rochester where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, and University of Buffalo School of Medicine.

Served in the Navy during both World War Two and the Korean War.

Stationed at the United States Naval Academy from 1952 to 1955 as a medical officer for the athletic department.

Practiced medicine in Warren, PA from 1957 to 1982.

After retiring from medical practice he lived in Savannah, GA and Chautauqua, NY.

He was a member of the Conewango Club, Conewango Valley Country Club, Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club, Chautauqua Golf Course, First Presbyterian Church at Skidaway Island and The Landings Club.

Surviving are his Wife Katy Thomas his children Douglas (Margaret), Jeffrey (Sandra), Elizabeth (Roger) and Andy (Sarah).  Predeceased by his son William.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew, Rebecca, Audra, Nicodemus and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 21st, 2015 at Hurlbut Methodist Church, Chautauqua Institute.  Following the service, friends will be received at the family home, 74 Pratt, Chautauqua Institution.
