Duane’s family would like to honor caregivers and friends who cared for him and became part of the #BoydStrong team during his battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Our thanks to his hospice nurse, Lisa, and nurse practitioner, Jessica, and volunteer, Bobbie O’Connor, who brought laughter and comfort during each of their visits. Our deepest gratitude to his private CNA, Larry, who lovingly cared for Duane for 3 1/2 years while Doreen worked. Duane and Larry shared a special bond. Larry’s professionalism and trustworthiness meant the world to Duane and Doreen. Elizabeth and Vonda were part-time caregivers who brought order with a nurturer’s touch and the gift of friendship. Friends who provided support and companionship to Duane during his final years brought laughter and left behind beautiful memories. The #BoydStrong home team included Jendy and John Sharp, Kristen Kober and Michelle Hull, Peg DiRollo, Deb and Chuck Fissette, Gary and Patti Lord, Jim Ganderup, and Caroline Rowan. The staff at the Community Hospice Douglas Center cared for Duane during his last month. Their compassionate care was beyond measure. A special word of thanks for nurse, Minette, and chaplains Jim. Their compassion for Doreen during the last days of Duane’s illness is unforgettable. Community Hospice provided a beautiful and sacred space for Duane as he transitioned from this life to the arms of God. We are grateful. PlayBall
