Happy Birthday, Dad
August 14, 2019
On Dad's 84th birthday, the story that comes to mind is when he taught me the finishing touches of how to drive. Ever protective and having a background in military intelligence, Dad decided that parallel parking, safe lane changes, and how to take an on-ramp were insufficient to being safe in the world. I needed to go through his own version of anti-terrorist driver's training. It was a hilarious day, in an abandoned subdivision with no houses and closed roads, where I learned things I have thankfully never needed. However, it's been fun to describe Dad's zeal that day as he taught me the finer points of high speed evasion, collision management, etc. Miss you, Dad.
