Tribute to my Aunt : Professor Ebun Adefunmilayo Oni
December 27, 2021
I will always cherish the memory of my late aunt Professor
Ebun Adefunmilayo Oni. She was a great woman, highly principled, disciplined,
and diligent in all her endeavors. I remember spending several holidays at her
home (which was a second home for us). She kept what I will describe as an “open
house” – where your privileges were the same as what was obtainable at your own
home. She was a second mother to us.
I will never forget the role she played in ensuring that I didn’t lose my admission to the University of Lagos. A computer glitch had resulted in my name not appearing on the list at the admissions office -even though I had a valid admission letter. She came over and accompanied me to the school Senate Building and she ensured they resolved the matter. She was a woman of a strong character who was “no pushover”.
I remember the long hours she spent recording the entire bible in English and Yoruba on tapes and how she freely gave copies to many. She also authored several books on bible knowledge which she distributed freely. Her relentless commitment to the growth of God’s kingdom through the distribution of the bible and the books she authored is highly inspiring.
I thank God for your life dear mama. Rest in peace.
