A Dedication to our Father
A Dedication to our Father
(Edgar Taylor)
By Thomas and Troy Taylor
Our father was dedicated to making sure that he raised us to be responsible young boys who one day become responsible young men. He would start a tradition in our family of cutting our hair when we were young boys getting us ready for church on Sunday morning making sure we were not only clean, fed,
and ready for Sunday school, but always keep us in good surroundings with the church family we grew up with. He gave us lifelong lessons, and structure that will be passed down through the generations to come. We are proud to have had you as a dad, a father, and as you aged we would label you as pops. I remember you being short of patience at times when we did not want to do our school work in our elementary years. You were firm with us and you never gave up on us no matter what. Sometimes you would tell us “You have to work three times harder than other folks in this life to be somebody”, and we did and you told us you were proud of the men and the fathers that we became. You never made excuses when we asked you why things may have not turned out the way they should for our family. Your reply was “I did the best I could with what I had”, and that was enough for me. It told us that we have to keep our faith with God and trust in God’s word because you always say that “We all fall short of his glory”. You were so right. We would say that our father Edgar Taylor lost his battle with cancer, we would say that God had a great plan and cancer was just something that this old body we use here on earth became contaminated with. Dad you always told us that we are only here a short breath of time within our time of existence and it is those kind of life long lessons that have prepared us in our daily spiritual walk with our father in heaven. Dad we are not saying good bye, we are saying “May God take you into his kingdom until we can one day join you”. So it’s farewell for now, and thank you for all that you have done.
Your loving sons,
Thomas and Troy Taylor
