I have known Ed since the seventh grade at Wilbur Wright Junior High and through John Marshall High. He preferred to be called "Ed" since leaving school and entering the business world, but he will always be "Ted" to me since our youth. Special to me because he was my best man at my wedding in 1965. Rest in peace, Ted.

I met Ed through a want-ad.
He needed a technician for his BlipChip Product Company.
That was 1993.
Ed hired me and we worked together for 15 years
creating and producing electronic products used in
the micro-graphics industry.
We remained friends after that business declined due to the
arrival of computer digital information retrieval systems.

Ed had a soft spot for stray cats and took them into his care.
I shared office space with them.

Rest in Peace, Ed.

I met Ed thought the Chatham Community Band over 20 years ago. After I left the band, I managed to keep in touch with Ed by the Chatham Brass Ensemble group that he developed and their generous volunteering of time to perform for the long-term facility where I worked. Two years ago, I switched jobs and I am now working for the township that Ed and his wife live in. When I first started this position, it was suggested by other employees that I should have The Item newspaper interview me so the rest of the township would know my new role. Being a little shy of the publicity, I politely declined. A few days later, Ed stopped by my office to let me know that he arranged for The Item to come interview me. While I was hesitant, in the long run, Ed did the right thing. He was very persistent and passionate for any task that he had. His love of not only playing his French horn, but also wanting to play for those who may not have access to live music was truly a blessing.
Thank you, Ed for all that you have done. While I know you will be missed, I am also glad that you are at peace.

Ed was an important catalyst to many of the things that we accomplished in the Chatham Brass Quintet (he was THE founder and guiding light) as well as the Chatham Community Band. His boundless energy (even noodging :^) ), passion and contacts in the greater Millburn area were invaluable, as was his friendship and acceptance in our musical outreach to the community. A wonderful guy, and already missed. With love, Andre' Luboff

I can say the same as Andre and Rudy…Ed was the catalyst for many hours of joyous music making with the Brass Quintet, several symphony orchestras and the Chatham Band. God bless Eddie and his family.
With deep respect, and THANKS

Ed was the consummate Chatham Community Band member. He was a great musician, a contagiously enthusiastic supporter, and a dedicated emissary who contracted countless gigs - and even commissioned original scores for the band. He loved to make music and he shared that love with all who knew him. His presence is and will be deeply missed.
With great respect and affection,
Lucy Deutsch

Ed was totally devoted to his love for music. He was a wonderful French horn player with boundless energy, enthusiasm and creativity. He was instrumental in establishing the Chatham Brass Quintet in 2004.Under his leadership, the group played up to 50 concerts a year at various nursing homes, hospitals and other venues. Ed was a true friend who will always be remembered and loved. God bless you, Ed. May you rest in peace.
With love,

Edward "Ted" Rummel.... Ted was a 1957 JMH Alum, and a covert field agent funneling me news and views to excite even the most docile mild manner JMH '57 Alum.... And others in my wide circle of friends and acquaintances, and even a few who may have been not so quaint. It was a pleasure knowing Ted, and God speed to the heavens.

The "Great White Father"

July 17, 2017

JMH had a Principle for men... His hair was pure white... he was a tough disaplinarian... and every so often he would make an official proclimation over the school wide PA System.... If his proclimation was broadcast during study hall, the JMH Auditorium... When he came on the 200 or so, including Ted, in the "study hall" would, in unison, chant "OH GREAT WHITE FATHER".... I can't help but chuckle, and even laugh or chortle, outloud, every time this funny crosses my mind; so the people, around me, look at me "what is he off his wheaties?"

Remember "have you tried Wheaties, the best breakfast food __ ___ ___!!"  We all, I'll bet, had Wheaties, but can you finish the line above??  Even Ted is probably playing the tune on his French Horn... today with a heavenly brass sextet.
