Grandpa was a very gentle and kind man. I do recall him having "opinions" of various things that grandma made to eat. If there was something he didn't like, I never heard him say he didn't like this or that. He would always say "I wouldn't want that everyday".
I remember quite a few years ago that dad and I were up in Bismarck for an auction. Dad took grandpa and I out to eat at McDonalds. Grandpa said many times that he didn't like to eat alot. I did see this on many occassions and where he would order what seemed like half a piece of toast for his meal. However on this occassion at McDonalds, dad and I saw him gobble down a huge burger and large order of fries. After that when ever he said he didn't eat alot, we would remind him the time we saw him gobble down a huge burger and large order of fries.
I always thought grandpa's eyes were very expressive.
