It has been so hard to reconcile dear, patient, gentle, kind and humorous Efunmi, with death. The image of her lying so still just refuses to manifest in my mind's eye, as I struggle with the reality of her departure.
Efunmi was many things to many people; we connected on many fronts. Having worked closely with Femi, Asue and their team at Banwo & Ighodalo, I came to know and appreciate Efunmi as a patient listener and warm hostess. Additionally, my sons were students along with Sunmimade at Atlantic Hall, Epe, so we met often on visiting, sports and prize giving days, also at the beginning and the end of terms. Being resident in Abuja, my sons, Adam and Alamin, fast became their regular houseguests in Lagos, since they are both nearer to Sunmimade's age. Indeed, I also had the privilege of staying over at Efunmi and Femi's place and Efunmi just could not do enough to make me feel at home.
One thing I would always attest to; Efunmi always had your back, irrespective of the circumstances. And she would reach out to you, if she had not heard from you for a while. She demonstrated that she cared and was so organised, she would organise your affairs if you let her!
Efunmi, you shall never be forgotten; as surely as you were an intricate part of all of us. Sleep well, as we pray for favour from the Almighty. Eternal rest, dear friend and sister. You have lived well, impacted positively and permanently on all of our lives, done your bit. Your time is nigh, even as ours is sure to come, one day. Peace.
Femi, Dami, Demi and dear, dear Sunmimade...be assured that you are not alone in your grief. We share in your pain, even as we know our pain cannot be as deep. Only God can hold you up in the trying times; and I trust He will enable and strengthen you, amen.
