Her Life

My Family

November 6, 2013

On November 24,1946, John Willie Malcom and Emma Ruth Williams was blessed with a daughter that they named Emma Lue Malcom, She was raised with 4 sisters: Bessie Ruth, Willie Bell, Sarah and Ann Malcom and 5 brothers: John Willie Jr.(Buck),Willie Howard(Spunk),Grady,Charlie and Charles(Boot) Malcom in the small town of Bostwick Ga.  Later in life she met and married Alvin Smith(Bo) and had 4 kids: Sandra,Phoebe,Michael and Marvin Smith and adopted her nephew Jabbar Malcom.  Emma was a lovable person that always tried to help other peoples, she never turned anyone away from her house. She loved most of the peoples that she met. Throughout her life she worked with the public: Morgan County Board of Education,Oxford Slacks of Monroe Ga. and at the time of her death she worked as a caretaker in which she loved. She went through many trials and tribulations in her life but always seemed to come out with a smile.
On March 16,1991 she was faced with the hardest test a mother could face and that was the death of her son Michael Bernard Smith. She had a hard time dealing with his death but by the grace of God she manage to pull through and continued to do her best to raise her other kids to the best of her abilities without neglecting anyone. She was later blessed with12 grand kids:(Sandra) Antwan,Feleshia,Emmanuel and Lachievous Smith, (Phoebe) Latavious Kirkland,Brianna Boswell and Alize' Sims,(Michael) Rodricus Smith and Monique Wright, and (Marvin)DeMarvion,Keundra and Derris Smith and 18 great kids at the time of her death.  She was a person that loved life and decided to take that life journey and walk for Jesus. She was always trying to attend church and live the best years of her life doing God's will. After a while she was blessed to see her baby son (Marvin Smith) answer his calling and begin to speak for the Lord, after he was blessed with his own followers he started his own church in which she made sure she was a faithful follower of the Lord. She always tried her best to attend every event that Marvin was having. She was also blessed to see her niece Sandra Smith Moore answer her calling, although Sandra lived in another state she tried her best to travel to Virginia Beach,Virginia and support her to. She loved visiting her other sisters,Sarah and Bessie to talk about old times and laugh a while.  She took her grandkids under her wings and begun to spoil them as she did her own kids. By me being the oldest child she raised me to be just like her and instilled her love for family into all her kids. I think I got the rough end because she never let me get away with anything,(in which I wouldn't trade my up bringing in for nothing), although she spoiled all of us she never let us forget who was in charge.  The love she had left everyone with a empty spot in their heart that could never be replaced.  Emma shared her love for three more additions to the family and that was her son-n-law Mike Johnson and two daughter-n-laws: Sharon Wright and Cynthia Smith. The love she gave was very pure, she was the type person that wasn't afraid to show her love,if she liked you,you knew it and if she didn't like you,you knew it.  On Dec.12,2011 she answered her call and went on home with the Lord. Even just before her death she was thinking about everybody else feeling and tried to hold on until she knew everyone was gonna be alright with her leaving. I remember her saying to me that I wasn't strong enough for her to leave me and I made her a promise that I would be ok. I'll never forget the big heart she had. She was layed to rest at her child-hood church Mount Perry Baptist Church in Bishop Ga.
