BIOGRAPHY OF PA NJEI EMMANUEL ATAKURO

Pa Njei Emmanuel Atakuro was born in Nyenjei village (Batibo) on July 25th, 1957 to the family of Isaiah Tita Njei and Anima Acha all blessed memory. He was second in a polygamous family. His mother had three children: two boys and a girl.
EDUCATION
Emmanuel Njei was one of the youngest pupils of Council Nyenjei where he completed class 7 in 1969. He passed the Common Entrance Examination and was one of the two selected from each Division into Grammar School Manowebe at Victoria in 1969 but, the school was later transferred to Molyko, Buea. He succeeded in the BEPC (French certificate) and London GCE passing in all subjects. In 1976, he headed to ENS Bambili and proceeded into Higher ENS. In 1986, Pa Njei had the British Scholarship and furthered his studies in Mathematic Statistics and Mathematic Education at the University of Reading London and acquired his master’s degree.
PROFESSION
Pa Njei Emmanuel funnily known as British man, Papa the Papa, Son of God. He was a Maths and Physics teacher in many schools; Grammar school Mamfe (1980-1984), GHS Nyasoso (1984-1986), GHS Mbengwi (1989-1997), GHS Enyoh, GHS Batibo, GHS Nwa, GBHS Tatum (Kumbo) as principal until he fell ill in 2012. Pa Njei was also a chief examiner for Further Maths Cameroon GCE. In 2004, Pa Emmanuel Njei was sent out by the Cameroon Government to China to study the Mathematics curriculum that is used in Basic Education.
CHRISTIAN LIFE
Pa Njei was baptized in 1967 by Rev. Asana in Batito. He was a highly active and fervent worshipper with the Presbyterian church in Cameroon. He was a CYF member then later joined the CMF group where he held the posts of a president, financial secretary. Was as Elder, lay preacher, worship leader, congregational and projects chairperson. On October 13th, 2011, the read his last lessons at PCC Tatum and he referenced the book of Micah 7:7-17 and Ps 23. His favorite song was CHB. 301 (I need no other argument…).
COMMUNITY LIFE
He was one of the 1st secretary General of MOSA (Moghamo Student Association) Batibo. Was the national president of the upper Moghamo Development Association. for Mbunjei, Nyenjei, Oshum, Anong, Ngen-Muwah until he fell ill. He was the Tom-fon of Nyenjei chief. Pa Njei Emmanuel was a sociable person. He loved singing Njibi and dancing. He was a father to several children. He sponsored so many children educationally everywhere he went. He was a lover of education and saw success in every child.
FAMILY LIFE
Pa Njei Emmanuel got married to his beautiful wife Grace Ngwe in 1979 with whom they had six children: four boys and two girls. One of the boys is of blessed memory, bless his heart. Also had three adopted children. He was the backbone of his family and his wife’s. He was a humble, caring and loving man. Oh, how we miss you! He passed unto eternity on January 25th, 2021 at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He leaves behind a wife, his children, 12 grandchildren, sons and daughters-in-law, family and friends.
