I met Evelyn 20-25 years ago when travelling from Rome to Raleigh on a business trip. Tony was working in Rome at that time and he and I had become friends. He might have asked me to bring something to his parents, or bring something back, I don't remember, or maybe he just wanted me to stop by and say hi. So I went to his parents house one evening and I was really touched by their warm and friendly welcome. They insisted that I stayed for dinner and I had a very pleasant time. Evelyn was really sweet and made me feel at home in the most natural way. Every other time I met her in the following years I was always impressed by her way to care about everybody and by the positive feelings she transmitted and inspired. This is how I will remember her, with a big sweet smile on her face.
Tony, you and your family are in my thoughts. I hope your sadness can be lifted by memories of nicer times.
Big hugs, Mariateresa
