Fidel Newboy Osammor

Fidel Osammor fondly called “Newboy” was born on the 14th of June
1951 to Dominic and Isabella Osammor in Udumu Ogwude Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State
Nigeria. He attended Government Primary School Ogwashi-Uku for his
elementary education and briefly attended St Patrick’s College Asaba before
leaving for London at the age of 13 to join his senior brother, the late
Ogochukwu Osammor. While in London, he attended London Metropolitan University
where he obtained a degree in Geography.
Fidel returned to Nigeria in 1981 and joined the Federal Ministry of Information External Publicity Department. While serving at the ministry, he was stationed in Lagos, Paris and Abuja from where he retired as a director in 2012. After his retirement, he moved to Ogwashi-Uku and was involved in many social and political initiatives that sought to bring change to his local community. He passed away in London on the 19th of May 2021. He is survived by his daughter, son, grandchildren, sisters, nephews and nieces.
