Fleeta Faye (Taylor) Lynch, 98, completed her Earthly Journey May 6, and was peacefully released from complications of a stroke, with family at her side. She was born July 14,1922 in El Paso Texas to May Pearl (Nix) Taylor, and Hugh Taylor. Fleeta spent her formative years in Mangum Oklahoma and graduated High School Class of 1940. Adult years were spent in Oklahoma City, Puerto Rico, Corpus Christi, Kerrville, Austin and The Woodlands, Texas. She was married to Louis J “Buddy” Lynch 8 July, 1959, and was widowed in November, 2008.

Fleeta never had children of her own, but never lacked family. She’s the last remaining sibling of the seven May Taylor raised. They were colorful kin, with colorful generational names; Fleeta Fay, Una Mae, David Ray, Doyle James, Foy Dean, Dick Vernon and Uther Hubert. This was the Taylor Clan, solely raised, disciplined and taught by mom, May Pearl Taylor. This obit is edited and amended by the children of these siblings.

May was a masterful chef and restaurateur and all the kids worked in her places of business at some time in their youth, during the great depression of 1929 to 1938. Fleeta was eight when it started and seventeen towards the end. They made copious amounts of food and always had enough to share with those in need. A monument to May and her kids is found in Mangum, where Fleeta, in 2012, visited her friend of seventy one years, Jim Hall.

Fleeta was a true Beautiful Person, inside, and out. A beauty queen, she earned the title of Miss Mangum after High School graduation. In her elegant and fashionable style, she was a bon vivant lover of life, engaging in all this world has to offer…and especially engaging in people. She’s made so many friends in places lived or visited, and still kept in touch with them.
Brilliant, with a laser sharp mind and wit, she was keen enough for Jeopardy, a favorite pastime. And the comedic quips for any situation were boundless. To know her was to Love her.
