Speedy...it has been a hard few days after hearing the sad news. I remember our first meeting — I was instantly welcomed and felt the positive spirit around you. And not only speaking as a former colleague, but also as a friend who had the privilege to share memorable moments with you. I remember the evenings with full of laugh and singing, football games in Madrid, trips we did together..the list goes on. Although our joint journey was not so long, it was such an honour to know you, I wish your family and close ones strength and power for the sorrow. You will not be forgotten.

Many of us remember you for your generosity, kindness, loyal and trustworthy friendship, sense of humour, energy and personal charm. But when I had to choose something to engrave in the "makila" (the Basque chief's baton) that my wife and I gave you for your 60th birthday, I wrote "Hitza hitz" as a sign of respect: A word is a word. Word given must be honoured. And you have always been a man of word.
