Obituary

February 12, 2016

Frank Ellis Ehrenfeld Jr. died Saturday January 30th at Abington Hospital after a long series of illnesses.  He was a resident at Ann’s Choice for ten years in Warminster and formally resided in Lower Makefield, Brookhaven, and Bellefonte Pennsylvania.  Frank, a 1959 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, spent most of his professional life as a Chemist and Laboratory Director at Congoleum Inc at both their Marcus Hook and Trenton plants.  The US Patent Office awarded several patents for his work in resilient flooring manufacturing.

After retiring in 1997, he became more involved in community, fraternal, and church activities that had always been priorities in his life.  Frank enjoyed regularly working on house and garden and loved the company of family, old colleagues, and friends.  Frank was an avid fan of all things Penn State and enjoyed traveling to Disney Theme Parks with family whenever possible.  His passions for travel and fly fishing were later affected by his declining health.

He was born in 1936 and raised in Phillipsburg, Centre County Pennsylvania, graduating from Phillipsburg High School while his father, Frank E. Ehrenfeld Sr. was the Supervising Principal.  He served in the United States Army and US Air Force Reserves with an Honorable Discharge in 1962.

He was active in politics in Delaware County, having been elected to the Penn-Delco School Board for two terms in the early 1970’s.  He served on his Church Council and in various ministries at both Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Wallingford and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morrisville.  Later in life he faithfully attended the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Yardley and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hatboro.

Frank was active in numerous Masonic Fraternal bodies.  This included serving as the elected presiding officer in the following:  Concord Lodge No. 625, Newtown Lodge No. 427, Chester Royal Arch Chapter No. 258, Riblah Council No. 59, and St. Alban Commandry No. 47.  In addition he served as the elected Secretary of Penn-Morris Lodge No. 778, Master Councilor for Moshannon Order of DeMolay, and was active in Liberty Bell York Rite College No. 136, Crescent Shrine, and the Southampton Square Club.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Helen (nee Davidson) of Phillipsburg, and his sisters Alice Kuser (Ed) of Bradford, and Barbara Carver (Robert) of Warminster.  Frank is survived by Dolores A. Ehrenfeld (nee Benson), his wife of 58 years and their three children, Frank E. Ehrenfeld III, of Yardley, Cindy Briel (Chris), of Mechanicsburg, and Kim Johnson (Jeff), of Downingtown.  He will live on in the lives of his cherished grandchildren, Kelli, Caroline, Xavier, Tracy, Ellisa, Timothy, and Cynthia.
