ForeverMissed
Gabriele Simons, beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, mom and nana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Jefferson Hospital in Washington Township, NJ at age 63.

She was born January 29, 1957 to Homer ‘Jack’ Simons and Hedwig ‘Heidi’ (Bob) Simons. She worked as a business administrator at Professional Benefit Consultants from 1986-2014, and continued to work part time to help the restructured business until she passed away.  Gabriele had a beautiful soul, spending up through the last of her days feeding the humming birds, blue jays, gold finches, sparrows, random squirrels, etc. who would visit her seed buffet; writing heartfelt poetry that you could hear her read when you read it to yourself; feeding monarch caterpillars and watching them hatch, wrap themselves into chrysalises, and finally emerge as butterflies and fly away to the next part of their lives; avidly reading as much as she could; collecting and pressing the beautiful leaves and flowers from God’s fall tapestry; spending time with her Dutch man; and spending time with her friends and family.  Gabriele could see the beauty and wonder in all of God’s amazing creations.

But where she got her greatest joy was in her daughter, Denise, and granddaughter, Kelly, who she is survived by.  The three of them enjoyed frequent ‘Girls’ Days,’ finding joy and laughter in the mundane. Gabriele was a strong, compassionate, giving, beautiful woman,  even though she never saw it. Now she is up in Heaven, finally able to sing and dance again, free from her broken body.

Family, friends, and anyone else whose lives were touched by her are invited to send in a fond memory <or two, or 10 - how ever many> to the family.

There will be a private burial in Steelmantown Natural Burial Preserve.

In lieu of flowers, we're asking for donations be made to help one of her passions-butterflies. If you feel led, please donate to www.naba.org, the North American Butterfly Association. It would be deeply  appreciated.

You gave me some of the best times of my life. You were a bright light everywhere you went. Beautiful outside more beautiful inside. You cared deeply for everyone. Though my heart is completely broken to not hear you or see you, I know that you deserve a break from this earthly life. You are amazing. You were like a second mom when mine left this earth. I love you so much, Gab. I'll remember you singing at the rally, tearing up the dance floor, (raining men) was our jam, late night at denny's, hayrides at the village dock with denise and Kelly, and one of the best huggers. You will me missed terribly my dear sweet beautiful friend.

Oh wow, where do I even start...I can remember when myself and my sister were at GCCC and Gabriele noticed Vicki and recognized her from when Vic was little. Ever since then we were friends with her. She was a light in the room always. The dances at Nancy's were awesome. Gabriele, Alice, Vic and I use to have a ton of fun. Gabriele was the light of the party. Those were some good times. She was the kind of person where we could just look at something or notice something and we would end up laughing at the same thing without even saying anything. We just would know. Denise, and Kelly will be in my prayers. This really doesn't seem possible. At least she is with Jesus. Her and our mom are probably having an awesome time with Jesus. She will always be in my heart. I will deeply miss her. Loved her so much!!

I met Gabriele many years ago through church and Single Purpose. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a dry, sarcastic wit that I adored. And a mutual love for music and singing. Even though I only knew her for a brief moment in time, she left an indelible mark. Years later I would melt drip candles in my own apartment as I remembered she had done years, decades, before. I believe in my heart she has transcended to a higher place. Prayers of peace, strength and comfort to Denise, Kelly and family.

My dear friend Gabrielle will be missed by so many lives that she has touched. Gabrielle and I met many years ago at a Bible study at Grace Bible Church. The teacher assigned prayer partners and we happen to be the last ones to show up that day so we were kind of thrown together, so we thought, because Gabrielle and I didn’t think we had anything in common. It was all part of God’s plan. We became prayer partners not only for the Bible study but for the rest of our lives. I will miss her dearly but am rejoicing that Gabrielle is not in pain anymore and is with her Lord face to face.

Grateful to Gabriele

Shared by Cheryl Bromke on November 12, 2020
My best friend, Denise, and I had gotten in a stupid fight our senior year of high school, but at that time it was enough to have us go our separate ways for our freshman year of college without exchanging addresses or phone numbers to stay in touch.
After about a month and a half, I realized that what we had been fighting about meant absolutely nothing anymore - but our friendship meant everything to me.  I decided that I wanted to do something about it.  Only I had no idea how to get in touch with Denise.
But I knew one way that I could try to find out.  I was very nervous when I picked up the phone and called Gabriele - I really had no idea what she was going to say or if she would even want to talk to me.
Gabriele and I had a really nice conversation, and she made me feel really comfortable and let me say what I had called to say - that I wanted to get in touch with Denise to apologize but I didn’t know how to reach her.
Gabriele gave me Denise’s address at college...and said, “Denise is going to be furious with me for doing this...but let her be mad at me - she’ll get over that.  You two just need to patch things up.”
I have been so grateful to Gabriele ever since that day back in 1997 - it is because of her that I was given the chance to apologize to my best friend and tell her how I felt...and then because of Denise’s amazing ability to forgive (much like Gabriele ) that we have never looked back since then.❤️
