Gail was a treasured colleague to us both. She was sincere, compassionate, friendly, and a person of high standards and principles. She always spoke out for what was right and just and fair. She loved her family and was so proud of all their accomplishments. We will truly miss her. We send our deepest sympathy to Gail's family.

My heart is really broken; I had Dr. Gail Fahoome for most of my EER Classes. Dr. Fahoome also was part of my Doctoral Qualifying Exam Committee. She is honest, fair, and highly analytical in a good way and has a sense of humor. She will be missed.

Mrs. Fahoome- A woman of tremendous character, intellect, and humility. She was towering in stature but one of the sweetest women on the earth. I met her because of her twin sons Dale, and Walt and always felt welcomed in her home (sometime to welcome lol). May God shine his grace on your family and they know that you are fine and now in divine light. God bless the Fahoome family!

I will terribly miss Gail as a colleague, friend, and even student (in my doctoral seminar in 1999). I am in awe of Gail's extraordinary ability to patiently explain complex statistical concepts to students, as well as her keen commitment to social justice, expressed a month ago in her impassioned plea that we treat the cleaning staff equally to the University President.

Words seem in adequate to express the sadness I fell about Gail’s passing. I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Gail’s company, either playing cards or just sitting around talking. Going up north for the Jones Family reunion for the last few years was always something I looked forward to. I always had a blast and felt welcome. She raised great kids, and they in turn they raised great kids. She

Gail was my colleague and my friend, and I will miss her. She was warm, had a great sense of humor and was exceptionally bright. She had more patience to work with students than any faculty member I have ever known. She had a great smile and if you really wanted to see it beam, all you had to do was discuss one of Capella's projects, from "Random 1" to "Don't Stop Believing."

My sister said it perfectly. Gail was our sister and I am still in shock. I feel her presence everyday.  She was brilliant and had the best sense of humor of anyone I know. My sister in law Renee, my sister Linda I are missing an incredible part of our foursome. Our girls weekends will not be the same however I somehow know you will be there. I love my brother and your children and you

What a woman! I remember the day she fired into my office and said, "You gotta' see this trailer of this movie my daughter did." and changed my life - again. She was a better colleague that I deserved, a lioness for students, and among the hardest workers I ever knew. Her commitments to excellence in all she did - equity, teaching, service, scholarship - never let you down. I miss her.

Gail was wonderful; full of humor, intelligence, and love. I remember talking with her about teaching, and needing to understand how it felt not to know something in order to help students learn things that they feared – like statistics. She's gone far too soon, but her influence continues to flow out through her family and her students.

"I worked with Gail on a number of projects. She always responded to students in a timely fashion, guided them and raised the bar on the quality of the work she expected. Aside from her work with students she was a dear friend and colleague. I will miss her dearly."

Life is never more difficult then when a loved one leaves us. Momma Fahome had such a wide-reaching spirit and zest for life and her family. She was a lovely, kind and thoughtful person. She had an innate ability to make you feel special whenever she was around you.

I was blessed to have been one of Dr. Fahoome's students for 6 of my doctoral classes. In every class, she showed love and respect to all of her students. She also didn't just treat us like students. She treated us like friends. She allowed us to discuss things freely and truly cared about what personal issues we were going through. She will definitely be missed.

I am blessed that Gail was in my life. She is among the most inspirational women I've met. Upon initially meeting Gail, one would never suspect the accomplishments, ambitions and 'works-in-progress' of this phenomenal lady! I enjoyed listening to her stories about Detroit. I enjoyed learning about her children and grandchildren. I simply enjoyed Gail. (I'm gonna miss her so very much.)

What an inspirational and wonderful human being. Dr. Fahoome is someone who brought the best in the people around her. I will miss her humor and wit. She gave so much to her students, and never asked for anything in return. The many life lessons she taught me will live on. I know one day we will get to continue our wonderful conversations and friendship, until then I will miss her dearly.

Thank you Felicia (Petey)!! She loved alll my friends! You guys always made her and my dad feel so loved! Your right, she gave us all the very best of herself. And she didn't settle for anything but the best for herself!! When she decided to go back to school - she got her BA, MS, then PhD! She was sooooo amazing. Once she decided to do something - you could consider it done!!!!

Her wit, her humor, her extraordinary talents, and her overwhelming capacity to love. My aunt Gail was a woman to watch, because there was just so much to learn from and admire. She will continue to be an example for all of us.

Gail was smart, funny and always willing to help a student understand something about statistics. We shared lunch, stories about our children, complaints about our colleagues and laughs about books, movies and people. Gail was so proud of Capella, i am glad I had a chance to see the latest movie and see Gail smile at the stories Capella told about getting the movie made. I miss her.

I first knew Gail when she was an undergraduate student and then had the pleasure of working with her for many years as a colleague. She was hard working, competent and got right to the point in any discussion. I enjoyed her sense of humor and our many talks together.  It is hard to think of the COE without her.

Dr. Fahoome was an integral part of my doctoral studies at Wayne State. I can attribute so much of what I learned and what I put into practice in my current work to her. I am happy to have written her a letter after my final course last year, thanking her for the role that she played to let her know how much she meant in my educational journey. She will be missed a great deal

Dr. Fahoome taught me many lessons in the classroom; however my most treasured lessons were outside the classroom. It wasn’t necessarily what she said, but how she lived her life. She will always be an example of determination, diversity and devotion. She shared her love & warmth with all. To Dr. Fahoome’s family, thank you for sharing your treasure, she has made all our lives so rich.

Her accomplishments amaze me. Gail was a beautiful and caring person. Every relative, friend and student was touched just knowing her. What a wonderful roll model she was to her children and grandchildren. To her beautiful family, our hearts and prayers go out to you. Gail is gone too soon, but never forgoten in our hearts.

I remember all of Aunt Gail's stories about how crazy her kids were growing up! How dumbfounded we all were during her PhD defense & how smart she truly was. She always shared the deep knowledge and passion she had for so many things. Her brilliance came through her sense of humor and the one-liners she could crack on the spot like no one else! She will be loved always and sorely missed.

Gail brought us so many gifts when she came into our lives. That Gorgeous, seemingly ever present, smile always conveyed the joy that bubbled up out of her open mind & whole heart. She was truly inspiring in so many ways. I'm thankful for all of the time that we had together, but I;ll always wish that we had more. I'll miss her always.

I'd only really begun to get to know Dr. Fahoome in the last two years. She taught several of my doctoral courses. She had many students but when you got time with her, she was really present-ready to help and push you to think. In the last year, we became more friendly. She was such an interesting, thoughtful and authentic person. I really wish she'd had more time. A great loss.

What to say about this wonderful spirit...She loved her family and extended her love to anyone (meeee) close to the family. A woman full of life, love and intelligence. She always encouraged us to be our best, never judged us and advised us on ways to make ourselves better. She gave us the best of herself and not one minute in her presence did you feel like you were not family just loved
