Napoleon "Gene" McClure was the second child of six born to Napoleon E. McClure, Sr. and Helen I. McClure in Newport News, Virginia. He attended Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina for two years before moving to California and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at San Jose State University in 1974.

Gene was a 25 year employee of IBM after serving in the US Military and a decorated Vietnam Veteran who earned a silver star and bronze star medal.

On Thursday, June 28th of 2012, Gene passed away suddenly due to complications of pneumonia. He was loved by many and never met a person he couldn't talk to. Gene is survived by his daughter, Candace McClure and his son, Brian McClure, his mother, Helen, and his 5 siblings, Helen, Nathaniel, John, Sylvia, and Janice.

Gene will be forever loved and greatly missed.
