We cannot believe it has been a year since you left for heaven. You must be so proud of Darla, Alexa and Jade - they have been so strong for each other. We miss our generous and supportive neighbor, friend to all, Brian's playmate and fan, the best carne asada cook, the guy who would laugh when Brian would say "What's up, Gilberto?" (at Don's encouragement), someone who had a "guy" or a referral for anything, who grows and harvests the best dates. We know you are still doing all of these things up above.

The day I went back to school a butterfly landed on my head and one of my friends pointed it out to me and at that exact moment I felt something that I never felt before. I knew that somehow he was right there by my side. So now whenever I see a butterfly, there is something that makes me believe that it's Dad checking in on me and its one of the most peaceful things to me now.

As of 10/1/13, your battle is now over, no more tears flowing down your cheek, no more pain, no more suffering, now you are no longer weak.
I still do not know why this had to happen to you, but I am proud to say you are my dad, the greatest man I ever knew.
Although you will not be here to walk me down the aisle or to watch me graduate, when that day comes I know you will be my side with a smile.
