Her Life

Mrs. Gladys Mae Cooper, a lifetime resident of Union Springs, AL, was born January 21, 1944 to the late Mrs. Willie Seal Delbridge and the late Mr. Charlie Delbridge.

At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and joined St. Luke Baptist Church, Union Springs, AL. She departed this life on Monday, February 9, 2015.


Gladys was married to the late Mr. James Ralph Cooper
who preceded her in death. Gladys was preceded in
death by her four brothers, Charles Henry Delbridge,
Abraham Delbridge, Willie James (Sonny) Delbridge
and Lenard Cannon; two sisters, Charlena Johnson
and Dorothy Nell Johnson; one grandson, Martavious
Henry. Gladys is taking the beautiful journey to her
Heavenly home with her beloved sister, Pearline (John)
Harris.

Gladys leaves with us cherished memories of a loving
and devoted and kind mother. Those who mourn her
passing are two dedicated sons, Tony and Duquence
Cooper, both of Union Springs, AL; one daughter, Gloria
(Martis, Jr.) Penn, Montgomery and Union Springs,
AL; one step-son, Ramon (Marjorie) Davenport, Miami,
FL; five sisters: Shirley Delbridge, Lorraine Threat,
all of Union Springs, AL, Jannie Delbridge Pugh, Montgomery,
AL, Cathleen Mosley, Lydia Delbridge both of
Bayonne, NJ, seven brothers: Roosevelt Delbridge, Fayetteville,
NC, Earl Delbridge, Atlanta, GA, Al Joseph
(Cynthia) Delbridge, New Jersey City, NJ, Robert (Melinda)
Delbridge of Columbus, GA, Aldoph (Jill) Delbridge,
Daniel (Vonnie) Delbridge, James Delbridge, all
of Bayonne, NJ, three sisters-in-law: Lillie L. Keeton,
Inell (John) Davis both of Columbus, GA, two brothers–
in-law, Clarence (Florence) Harris of Seale, AL,
Andrew (Annie G.) Harris, of Rochester, NY; thirteen
grandchildren, James Ralph (JR) Cooper, Tony Bernard
Cooper, both of Birmingham, AL, Romie Mays, III,
Kristin Alexzandria Mays, both of Montgomery, AL,
Quincy, Dartavious, Quintana, Te’Angela and Marco
Henry, Martez, Martima, Markice and Phillip Penn, all
of Union Springs, AL, all of Union Springs, AL; Reyana
Davenport, Miami, FL; four great-grandchildren,
Kamari Cooper, Ken Cooper, Jamarkis Henry, India
Blakely, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends including special family members
and friends, Curtis Cooper, Angela Henry, Metha Owens,
Ansley Glaze and Junior Tarver.
