My sporty mother

My mother was on a bowling league, I dont know how long she did it but she enjoyed it a lot. On her bowling nights she would take a few of us kids with her and let us play in the game room, I always enjoyed going and thought it was pretty cool my mom would let us go when it was her night out.     My mom loved baseball, the dodgers were her team for many many years until they made her mad so she switched to the angels, she was strongly against watching the dodgers so when my dad would be watching them he would yelll at her from the other room "mom mom mooooooooom, the dodgers are winning or they hit a home run" he didnt want her to miss anything she would just yell back at him "OH Shut up Ed" it always made me and dad laugh.    I think all us kids played baseball, some were on the same teams but I remember my mom always making sure she made her appearance at everyones game, she would run back and forth to each field wanting to see her kids play. I think my mom lived for opening day.

My mother

September 9, 2015

I can't tell you everything there is to tell about my mother, I will begin by telling you she was the most amazing women I have ever known.     Her story as she tells me "isn't much to tell" but with every word she speaks I find out a little more about my mother that I didn't know.     My mother born in 1925 on a farm in Oakdale Nebraska was the youngest of 9 children.     Mom says she was a good skater and was very popular for that, she also said she could not stand Eddie vavrick( my father).    My mom tells me the story of "The Apartment" this is a room her mother rented out to a couple, so this infamous apartment was rented by bank robbers, after they moved out mom and her friend searched the apartment but found nothing.   When my father came home from the war mom spent more time with him as she felt sorry for him because he was bed ridden, however they eventually started dating and married in December 1947, on my parents wedding day mom got sick after babysitting her niece, dads joke of the day was he needed a puke bucket, afterwords they decided to go dancing where mom ended up slipping on ice, falling and ruins her wool dress. Mom and dad moved into the infamous apartment for a time.    Mom says she didn't want to have a lot of kids but she got the baby fever and aways wanted that new baby.     Mom stayed home to raise her baby's but always wondering what is would of been like to keep working, she had gone to school at a radio/television institute and later got a job for the army using secret coded machines.                         (More to come later)
