Helen Laray- The Oak Tree

November 7, 2019
A mighty wind blew night and day it stole the oak trees leaves away
Then snapped it's boughs and pulled it's bark until the oak stood tired and stark
But still the oak tree stood it's ground while other trees fell all around
The weary windgave up and spoke - How can you still be standing, oak
The oak tree said- I know that you can break each branch of mine in two carry every leaf away shake my limbs and make me sway
But I have roots stretched in this earth growing stronger since my birth
You will never touch them you see for their the deepest part of me
Until today I wasn't sure of just how much I could endure
But now I've found
With thanks to you
I am stronger than I ever knew.

When Somebody Loved Me

05 When She Loved Me

When somebody loved me

Everything was beautiful
Every hour we spent together
Lives within my heart
And when she was sad
I was there to dry her tears
When she was happy - so was I
When she loved me.

Through the summer and the fall
We had each other that was all
Just she and I together -
Like it was meant to be
And when she was lonely
I was there to comfort her
And I knew that she loved me..

So the years went by
I stayed the same
But she began to drift away
I was left alone
Still I waited for the day
When she'd say,
" I will always love you ",

Lonely and forgotten
Never thought she'd look my way
Then she smiled at me
And held me like she used to do
Like she loved me,
When she loved me

When somebody loved me
Everything was beautiful
Every hour we spent together
Lives within my heart
When she loved me.............

In Celebration of your 72 Birthday

Arcadia Kenetic Weekend in 1991

January 22, 2012

Helen was spontainious and adventurous. She would wake up and say " lets go to the ocean"  we'd pack up some goodies and off we'd go into the day.  One time we went to Arcadia California. We took a few freinds along like Katie and her dad, Number 1 Joe, Janet, Lorainne, Martha, Helen and Kim. We went up to visit with Sharon and Debbie. On the way up there we stopped in Monterey and walk along the ocean front had a picnic and video taped the day. Once in Arcadia we put together a little show and video taped it. Some of the girls got up and did Diana Ross and the Supremes, Me, I did Billy Holiday, and Helen sung her favorite songs from her favorite artist- Patsy Cline. On the way home we stopped and attended the Arcadia Kenetic Races. In all it was a wonderful time for everyone brought about from one womans will to live and love. Since Helen's been gone there has never been another person like her and it seems that there is no one around with the enegy she had. Too many days are slipping by with the opportunities to be adventurous but when you have no one to share those good times with what's the sence in going. So I sit back and remember the times when Helen was in my life and how I would trade anything for another day with her.
