Happy 96th birthday to you!
You have been in my thoughts a great deal recently... not the least of which is that it is springtime in the Ozarks and I'm seeing such delightful photos on the of the Dogwood, French pears and other trees unique to that area in addition to daffodils, jonquils, forsythia, etc.
Our Country is experiencing something that I have never seen before--being mandated by our government to "shelter in place" as the medical community tries to get a handle on Corona virus #19. This is a world-wide pandemic. So far as I know, all members of our family are healthy and remaining in our respective homes. I'm grateful for cell phone service and WiFi which keeps me from going "stir crazy" as it allows communication with friends and family. We've even heard from Christian..in German, of course! Another thing to be thankful for--the Google translator, since we no longer have any bilingual German family members in the area.
Being confined alone to home has reminded me again of the winter in which you were snowbound. I still have sterno fuel in my snuggery "just in case" as I recall your wish for a cup of hot coffee. So far we still have heat, lights, running water, mail delivery and even trash pick up. I have an electric kettle so am able to enjoy a cup of hot coffee or tea at will.
The flower? Well, we're between the end of flowering bulbs and the beginning of blooming of the roses. Each day I think some of the buds will open... and one of these days that will be the case!! My yellow freesias have been prolific this year, but one more storm will probably finish off their bright yellow blossoms for this season. I also enjoyed a pot of miniature daffodils in my kitchen window but those bulbs are now awaiting repotting into the garden.
Sending a hug and fond memories of birthdays past! With love~
