His Life

My Dear Holt

April 2, 2019

I always told Holt how proud of him I was from day one. I told him that I thought he was the best looking baby anyone could ever have. I couldn’t wait until my lunch break from work so that I could go visit him at the daycare. Jim and I couldn’t wait to get home just to hold him and watch him grow with each and every step. The first steps he took were outside on our deck right after work one day. From a young age, Holt showed his intelligence. The ladies at the daycare asked me where his vocabulary came from. He was using such big words at age 3. I remember in elementary school when his reading level was already at the high school level. Holt was humble and didn’t ever want a lot of attention drawn to him but gracious he deserved every bit and more. Holt always did everything he could as long as he could. Holt drove the jet ski, rode 4 wheelers, shot a deer and basically did everything as normal as possible. Holt was on the swim team. Although he couldn’t swim like everyone else, he enjoyed being part of the team and practiced religiously. In later years when Holt went to Pittsburgh he finally felt acceptance of his disease. He was treated as a young man where people saw him for the person he was and not just his disability. Holt has many friends and one special nurse, Chasity, that he loved spending time with. Chasity was a friend and someone that Holt could talk to and confide in. Chasity remained one if Holt’s closest friends even after moving away to the other side of PA. Holt was able to get out to concerts, hockey games, football games and liked planning his next trip.  Holt had a great sense of humor and was always quick to understand a joke. I want to add more stories of Holt. I want to invite anyone that knew Holt to write a memory, story about him, or just share a few words of what you remember the most.  A memorial fund  has also been set up in honor of Holt fior Zane at https://www.givesendgo.com/Holt
