In Loving Memory of Israel Akwara: A Legacy of Dedication and Love

April 28
Israel Akwara’s roots originated from the vibrant community of Amanputa in Isiala-Ngwa North, Abia State, Nigeria, and settled in Uratta community in Aba North, Abia State. Born into the Akwara family on January 1st, 1949, his early years were marked by a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning, which he carried with him throughout his life.

After completing his primary education in Uratta and his post-primary education at Sacred Heart College in Aba, Israel's academic prowess earned him a scholarship to Blackpool College of Technology in the United Kingdom. There, he delved into the realm of food technology, emerging as the top student in his graduating class. His dedication and hard work laid the foundation for a successful career in the field.

Israel's love for sports, particularly soccer and tennis, was evident to all who knew him. His heart belonged to Enyimba Football Club in Aba and Liverpool Football Club, and he found joy in cheering for his favorite teams.

Upon his return from the United Kingdom, Israel settled in Lagos, where he lived and worked, contributing to the growth and development of the city he called home.

Professionally, Israel's expertise in food technology led him to various roles in companies such as UTC Nigeria PLC, Lagos State Abattoir, and UAC Foods, where he dedicated himself to producing high-quality meat products. His innovative spirit and commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on the industry.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Israel was a man of many interests. He found solace in the pages of books, and his passion for reading and writing enriched his life and the lives of those around him. He was known for his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand, always striving to add value to the lives of others.

Israel's greatest joy came from his family. He shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, and together they raised five children who brought immeasurable joy and pride into their lives. His 12 grandchildren were the light of his later years, filling his days with laughter and love.

As the last of six siblings, Israel cherished his family connections, especially his bond with his surviving sister. His faith in God was a guiding force throughout his life, and he was an active member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, where he found strength and community.

Today, as we gather to bid farewell to Israel Akwara, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, passion, and generosity. His legacy will continue to inspire us all, reminding us of the power of kindness, dedication, and love. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace, Dear Husband, Father, Father in-law, Grandfather, Brother, and friend.
