Gary was such a quiet and kind person. When visiting his and Ginger's home I saw the love and devotion he showed her. He also had a great love for the Boy Scouts of America and that in itself tells that he was a very good person. Helping others! I watched Gary and Ron Vinatieri spend hours sharing their scouting memorabilia with each other. Happy birthday Gary.

This journey through life, brings through a variety of zigs and zags. Uncle Gary, had a great impact on me through both my childhood and even to the present. I remember many a xmas or family get together and as a a child his similarity to Grandpa Ivan and as I got older his whit and sense of humor. His love for what some may say as off color jokes, I say thank God we have the same sense of humor. I remember him giving me a "Dud" bullet from his days at GD as a kid and thought that was the best thing ever. He blessed me later with some of his Boy Scout books. I am so glad we were able to share our love for Scouting together as it always gave us something to talk about. I will miss him.

Gary was one of the best. We served on many Boy Scout training courses and had many years of great scouting activities together.
He will be dearly missed by young and older friends. The scouting symbol for going home is a circle with a dot in the middle. He has now joined Troop #1 up above. God Bless Gary. Travel well.

Sorry to hear Gary passed. He was always a gentle and kind person with a huge happy smile on his face. A positive person that I knew in high school, and at our PHS55 reunions. Now we have our reunions every year. Getting old. Will miss Gary. I am a Christian, so, hope to see him in Heaven. God bless all of Gary's family and friends. Richard H. Shepard.

"It's sad when the people who gave you the best memories, become a memory. Sometimes you'll never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory." - Unknown My Grandfather helped to give me some of my best memories as a child. He unselfishly helped to raise my sister and I and made life decisions around that decision, for that I am forever grateful. I know I did not always make his life easy but he was always there with a soft heart letting me know he was on my team. He let me get my first dog which I know he didn't really want. I'm positive the dog did not teach me the lessons he had hoped, like taking care of something and being "responsible", but what that dog did do for me was let me know how much I meant to my Grandpa and my happiness and wants came before his own. He gave me a great love for the past and family. I always found comfort in his words and love for his family roots. I know I will miss these stories even though I thought I heard them a million times, and couldn't possibly hear them anymore. He taught me an appreciation for travel and knowing a places history, I loved our road trips and things I was so fortunate to experience with him. He saw beauty and value even in places like the barren desert of Death Valley, California. He taught me sometimes the grocery store is a fun place to get libations and sweets and not just food. Grocery shopping with him was always fun and a lot shorter, sorry Grandma. He was a strong man with even stronger convictions and I am going to miss him dearly. He was the patriarch of my family, and with him I felt safe, and knew everything would work out. My grandfather instilled a lot values in me and provided me with countless stories and memories, and I am so thankful to have these to remember him by. I found a quote from John Wayne that said "Life is tough, but its tougher when you're stupid." and it made me laugh because although I cant not remember him saying this, this is exactly something he would say. So with that Grandpa or as Paige would say Papa I promise to not live life so stupidly, I might be doing things a little late and a whole lot out of order I will live life with you always in my heart. I will pass the stories you told me onto Paige and show her a thousand and one pictures, and makes sure she can know you as much as possible. I love you to the moon and back thank you for fighting as long as you did, your fight was valiant and brave and strong. Until we meet again. XOXOXO

Gary was so kind and gentle to people. A true testament of people should treat one another. I will miss him very much. I enjoyed listening to his stories about childhood or the coast guard. I'll never forget his sense of humor when he would choose cards to send for holidays and other special occasions.

DAD

September 21, 2015

                                           “DAD”

I have written this through tears rolling down my face and a lump in my throat. I am still not sure if I will be the one to read this out loud yet.

“DAD” was always “DAD” to me. You were always someone I admired. Someone I took for granted would be around a lot longer. Never taking into consideration that life is a cycle just as a person is born someone also dies. I still have not gotten used to you being gone and words can not adequately express the way I feel. So bear with me.

“DAD” when I think about you the first thing that comes to mind is what a great Father & even a greater Grandfather/Great Grandfather you were.

Growing up I never had to worry or even think about anything other then being a kid and having fun. Looking back, I know I was not the easiest child to raise, we often butted heads, and I inherited your stubbornness .But in the end I Always new that you loved me.

Over the year’s you shared your knowledge and wisdom. You loved history, reading and later politics, (which you loved to debate about for hours). You rarely missed a day without watching Fox News. I wish you could have seen the song on you~tube “The Girls on Fox News” by Austin Cunningham, you would have laughed until you cried! .You were not perfect but you were to me. You were the most reliable, honest and dependable man I know. You were a man of strong principles, traditional, conventional and yet very private. Your family meant everything to you. You were very particular about how things were to be done right down to drinking your scotch out of a glass tumbler. Your cars were always immaculate as was the garage you parked them. If I had used a tool and I put it back exactly the way you left them some how you always knew I had been in them. You worked hard so hard and provided well for all of us this I am so grateful.

”DAD” you are and always will be my Hero & I love and miss you so very much.

Experence of brothers

October 6, 2014

Gary and I spent a considerable amount of time  together early in my childhood and a little later in our lives. You see I am his brother about eight years younger. He worked for me 15 years after he had worked 37 years for another company. We shared a lot moments of frustration and laughter at work, but some of our greatest times were at play, some camping, boating, and fishing. I will never forget one time we were fishing at a favorite spot on a river, Gary was fly fishing and he catches a fish on the back swing and the fish was about 5in long we had a good laugh about it. I will miss my brother Gary and my brother Lynn that Gary and I lost several years ago. Well Gary no more suffering and pain in this life I Love you and as I have already said I will miss you your brother Bob.

To Those I love and Those Who Love Me

October 2, 2014

This is a Poem that Dad really liked, he left it for us in his will.
I would like to share it with all of you.

To Those I love and Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me and let me go

I have so many things to see and do,

You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears,

Be thankful for our beautiful years.

I gave to you my love, you can only guess

How much you gave to me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you each have shown

But now, it’s time I traveled alone.

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must

Then let your grief be comforted by trust.

It’s only for a time that we must part

So bless the memories within your heart.

I won’t be far away, for love goes on

So if you need me, call and I will come.

Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near

And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear

All my love around you soft and clear.

And then when you must come this way alone,

I’ll greet you with a smile and say,

                                            “Welcome Home!”
