His legacy lives on vibrantly in his family, a testament to the love and guidance he so generously provided.  His love and dedication to his family and country were the cornerstones of his life.

He was a husband and father who instilled in his family the values of love, respect, and compassion and through that love had our admiration.

As we pay tribute to a man whose life was a beacon of integrity, wisdom, and extraordinary kindness Jamal Smith (Smitty) to most of us. May we remember the smile, jokes and laughter he invoked with each of us daily even in his own sickness and pain he mustard up joy and wisdom for each of us.

Whether through a phone call, text or Facebook he shared his ideals, stock exchange tips, jokes and laughter. We’ve lost a brilliant man.

In this solemn moment, we not only mourn his loss but also celebrate the remarkable life he lead, fight he embraced with dignity and the legacy he leaves behind.

As a friend, fellow Soldier and DOD Civilian I’ll miss the smile, laughter and jokes but I’ll always remember his heart and soul. The truth is he sprinkled a piece of it everywhere he went and I’m thankful he sprinkled some around me. God’s gained a Great Soldier.

Jamal will truly be missed. He always had a smile and something funny to say or post. I enjoyed hanging with him and his wife in Vegas and the trips to 6th street are just as memorable. I am glad he is no longer in pain. I continue to pray for his family and friends that will miss him so.
