His Life
January 29, 2018

Mr. Coker was born June 22, 1948 in Fort Benning, GA to the late James Howard Coker and Myrtle Louise Barrett Coker.

He was a faithful member of Centralhatchee First Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and attended Sunday School when his health allowed. A faithful Christian, he was always willing to help his fellow man in times of need.

He worked as a customer service clerk for FoodMax Grocery until his health declined.

Among his favorite pastimes was music. He loved to sing and play the drums, and was a member of several local bands in his younger years. He also enjoyed working with wood, and had his own shop where he made many things.

He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also held a special place in his heart for his dogs, Sophia and Tinnie.

Survivors include: his wife, Sheila Coker of Franklin; two sons: Greg Coker (Elisa) of Carrollton and Corey Coker (Paula) of Franklin; four grandchildren: Samantha Duffer (Nate), Debbie Brown, Logan Coker, and Kayleigh Miller (Bradley); four great-grandchildren: Savannah Piper, Brooklyn Piper, Kysa Hornsby and Adan Brown; one brother, Ricky Coker (Nida) of Franklin; and a number of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Mayghen Coker and Tasha Piper.
